The FA Cup Final Thread

True...but when parlour, henri etc made a wall around the ball....that was taking the **ss!!!
You always get it where a player takes the ball into the corner and tries to defend it..but a wall!! FFS

If I stand between the ball and an attacker and block them from making an attack, it's obstruction, what's the difference between that and putting the ball in the corner and stopping players getting to it..?

There's also nothing in the rule book about giving the ball back to the opp. team if they put it out due to an injured player...but its usually thought unsportsmanlike not to do it..as was that crap!!

it was clever play, they kept possession, there is nothing in the rule book saying you cant do that.

exactly, we only did it coz it didnt look like we were gonna score another and we wanted to protect our lead.

Bolton did it to use when we were drawing 2-2 no one complained then =/

From the FA:

"Obstruction: Illegally preventing an opponent from playing the ball by blocking their path to the ball. Results in an indirect free kick."

Seems that this rule is really down to the refs interpretation:(

Yeah, it's damn annoying to watch for the neutrals mind. I can understand anyone doing it though, who wouldn't? It's just as annoying as defenders 'shielding' the ball out of play for goal kicks, definitely needs a bit of scrutiny methinks...:)

yep maybe it should be stopped but i can understand why teams do it, in a situation where u have so much pressure on u, u will do anything to win

i think the defenders thing is ok but the time wasting isnt good

I was just going with the FA's interpretation of obstruction.
Obstruction: Illegally preventing an opponent from playing the ball by blocking their path to the ball. Results in an indirect free kick.
I used to be a keeper & it used to baffle me the amount of stuff a defender could get away with if the ball was going out or coming back to me. Great when it's your side doing it, bleedin' annoying against you

hehe yeah it is annoying but i think it should be allowed when the ball is close to the defender but not otherwise.

Also dude that smilie sucks :p

anyways back on topic should henry of been man of the match, when he got the ball he oozed class and he did make most of our chances and at times southampton simply didnt know what to do when he had ball.

But i thought of all people Oleg Luzhny was superb, i had a right go at him after the bolton and leeds game but for his last game he was superb.

Henry was breath taking at times, one of his better performances but i think maybe luzhny should have got it :)

Also why cant henry score at cardiff, i think thats 4 matches he hasnt scored there, he gets so many chances but never scores lol
