I can see us putting out a very understrength side Saturday tbh, think the starting XI against them back in October and you wont be far wrong. We never turn up at Anfield at the best of time and tbh the game against Stoke Tuesday night is much bigger and should we have any injury doubts going into Saturday then I'd prefer those players to be rested for that game instead

---------------De Gea---------------
Rafael---Smalling---Evans---Evra
Valencia--Carrick--Scholes--Park
-------Berbatov----Welbeck-------

Subs: Lindegaard, Fabio, Fryers, Pogba, Giggs, Rooney, Hernandez

Welbeck can drop left side and make it a 5 if needs be. Wouldn't be too disappointed with a draw and to bring them back to OT

EDIT: Also if it wasn't for the lack of Ferdinand and Vidic in that defence I'd give Evra the day off as well, but too much inexperience to play Fabio there as well. It would also take away 2 of our subs when both twins have to go off injured before the 60 minute mark

My team wouldn't be far off that but I'd rest Welbeck for Hernandez.

Good shout, only reason I've left him on the bench though is because the last two seasons he's came off the bench at Anfield and scored and this is the type of game where we may well need a super sub. Not sure if roles were reversed Welbeck could come off the bench and make much of a difference

Carrick's tweaked a hamstring - so he might not even play either, and wouldnt put it past SAF to rest Valencia and start Giggs as well (with Park moving over to the right)

Not suggesting it would be a good thing to do necessarily but its certainly plausible

Giggs cant play two games in 3/4 days though, that's why I wouldn't even consider him for the Liverpool game. If Carrick does indeed miss the game then I'd rather play Park in CM with Scholes, Welbeck from the left and Hernandez up front from the start.

Bloody injuries, would have been real handy to have Jones available (not to mention Anderson, Cleverley & Vidic of course)

Personally would have thought Giggs for his leadership nearer the front (especially if Rooney isnt playing ) would be more necessary at Anfield rather than at home to Stoke (even though I dont think the Stoke game is necessarily easy)

Giggs may not be 1st choice (of those available) for Stoke - which you seem to be assuming

Park has been absolutely useless in a four man midfield for a long time (in a central position) - and he isnt half bad out wide (while still covering a hefty part of the pitch) , for some reason he just seems better suited being out wide to me

Welbeck is practically non existant most of the time when played wide imo - in the cauldren of Anfield (usually , without even considering recent events between the clubs) every player needs to count for 90 + minutes

Giggs is currently first choice in centre midfield alongside Carrick that's not even up for debate tbh given he started there against both City and Arsenal, so it's not a wild stab in the dark to suggest he'd be one of the first names on the team sheet against Stoke. Fergie may well chose to play Giggs against Liverpool and Scholes against Stoke true (if he believes Liverpool is the bigger game) but to question whether or not Giggs is first choice like you are is a bit odd to say the least

EDIT: Oh and Shami remember you're not to watch this game okay? :p

If we go at United like we did City we can definately win by a 2 goal margin.

Or do the usual, go at them and dominate, get a goal, sit off and proceed to draw/lose in the best fashion possible.

I don't think we really have a first choice any more.

Maybe not when we've got more than 11 fit players but I'd say the midfield and strikers kinda pick themselves at the moment. Reports are that Nani has done his metatarsal though and will be out for a month and rumours on twitter are that Rooney's out of the game at the weekend as well

Away to Sheffield Utd should be a good game. We improving our away form, but it will be a tough game. I'm sure Sheffield Utd will give a better account of themselves then Wolves did in the last round. Gutted as well as I got to work on that day, otherwise I would have gone to Bramall lane.
