The FA CUP Fourth Round 27/28/29 January *** Spoilers ****

looking fwd to the utd v liverpool game

Why? It's almost certainly going to be a **** poor game like most of the games between the two teams at Anfield

The game in the league next month when Suarez is back.... now that's another matter ;)

Poor?

I've thoroughly enjoyed the past 4 or so ones at anfield, probably the 2-0 followed closely by the 3-1. Man Torres was good.

Of course you've enjoyed them, Liverpool have won 3 of the last 4, doesn't mean they've been great games though if anything the quality of the last 6 games at Anfield as been atrocious and that includes the two times we won

Odd you'd mention Torres along with those two game though, one of the games he didn't even play in. He wasn't anything special in the 2-0 either, scored a goal yeah but was marshalled pretty well throughout other than then (goes back to that myth that Vidic always has tough games against him)

How's it odd? It was a great goal considering he was half fit (hence he didn't square it or go across VDS) and we were in such a bad slump it was really such a lifting win, and Reina running at 20 odd mph to celebrate the ngog goal.

Quality of football has been good from us past 2 games, united not so much.

Edit: Vidic always has trouble with quick bursts of pace.

It's strange you choose to mention the myth about Vidic in relation to that game Tom. That's probably the one game he struggled most in; he could have easily been booked 4 times (he was once) for challenges on Torres before he was finally sent off. The Vidic/Torres stuff does get overplayed though, mainly because of the mistake at OT in the 4-1 game.

We were decent this season but last season was excellent; the 3-1 scoreline flattered Utd, it was arguably a better performance than the 4-1 at OT.

I expect it will be the same as the recent Anfield horror shows, Liverpool will raise there game to unimaginable levels, employ storm tactics which as everybody knows, causes us to go to pieces and keep giving the ball away, we'll either lose by a couple or they'll fail to put the game to bed and someone will bail us out and we'll scrape a draw, like Hernandez did last time.

I wasn't going to mention it but seeing as your brought up Torres' fitness I will point out that he only scored that goal because of Rio's back injury, promptly after that game Rio was given an extended break to rest/sort his back out as Fergie wasn't happy with how easily Torres knocked him off the ball

I didn't mention it in relation to any game, I mentioned it in relation to Purdy saying that Torres played well back then. They're both myths; Vidic has never particularly struggled with Torres consistently nor has Torres ever had any blinding games against us. If anything Torres' best game against United was earlier this season for Chelsea :o

You mentioned how well Torres was marshalled and then brought up the so called myth. The reality was that he wasn't well marshalled that day. As you say, he brushed off Ferdinand for the goal and Vidic was very fortunate to stay on the pitch as long as he did after struggling to cope with Torres. If there was one game that Vidic really struggled to deal with Torres specifically throughout the game, it was that game.

That game aside, the only other Vidic/Torres incident in that 3 game spell (even though Torres didn't play in the 1st of them), that's led to the Vidic can't handle Torres stuff, was the mistake in the 4-1 game (that was a shocker though), so I agree with you that it's exaggerated or a myth as you put it.

DuckerTheTimes: Doubts - Rooney, Rio, Anderson; Out -Jones, Nani, Young, Cleverley, Owen, Vidic, Fletcher. Carrick/Evra should be OK #MUFC

Liking our chances a bit more all of a sudden

Packed the poppers. Cold Saturday night in Brighton should be a laugh!

I live in Portsmouth so I don't get to watch the Toon very often.

I was really tempted to go to this one but all the away tickets sold-out before going on general sale.

I think there are still home tickets available but I'd want to be able to cheer and shout.

So I'm oing to watch it on the TV. :p

Rio wasn't on the ball, it was more Rio failed to knock Torres off the ball and was fouling him pretty much the entire time.

Vidic has struggled against players with bursts of pace, that isn't really a myth.
