The FA CUP Semi-Finals - 12/13 April 2014 *** Spoilers ***

I'm genuinely intriuged how Sanogo ends up at a club like Arsenal.

Obviously he can play a bit, he has pace to burn, great athleticism... but he can't seem to shoot, head, read a game or pass very well. I know it could be one of this diamond in the rough situations... or he just be coal.

Confused.

So far in just about every performance Sanogo hasn't actually looked good, crossing, finishing, his basic passing is okay. It's just the where/when/why he runs that helps keep the opposition defence on the back foot which enables the rest of the team to look better.

It's simply that he plays so differently to Giroud that the team looks better. If we had a striker that played the same style as Sanogo but was actually good... we could potentially be a great team.

Giroud is utter turd, it's unthinkable that a player can be sooo limited. It's embarrassing watching him try to run at a defence, but speed isn't necessary to run at a defence, talent and willingness to do so are more important and he has neither.

I've said before we need to buy a Sanogo style striker who is the finished article, if Sanogo ever gets good, who knows. If he doesn't improve in a couple years get in a different young striker for the future. But it's absolutely vital to get a "proper" striker in to play instead of Giroud, he is dire.

Such a poor first half, I expect Wigan to make some changes soon. Bringing Maloney and Powell on would be a start. Sanogo isn't a premiership player...he's barely championship.

Says he scored 10 in 13 games last year for Auxerre who are in ligue 2. he's 21 and he's not played an awful lot and well, to be fair to the lad Wenger has gone and dumped him in at the deep end. Everton/Liverpool in the cup, Bayern in the CL..... still made us play better than we otherwise could have and then he still gets dropped.

I think many/most strikers in their first top level games wouldn't like to be shoved in at the deep end like that. A few games against the likes of Swansea would have been great, but Wenger plays him against Bayern and drops him for Swansea, putting the cack Giroud back in and we drop points anyway.

Wenger's record of getting the best out of youth players has been poor for realistically his entire time at Arsenal. Some players like your Fabregas's are one in 10 million and he was ready to start games before he even joined us. Sanogo is a player I would say may be ready for a shot but needed to be introduced and given some games against bottom half teams, get a goal, some confidence and build from there. Instead you play him in insane games, he can't score and suddenly he looks nervous as hell in front of goal.

Start of the season 10 mins against Fulham despite us being 3-0 up from the 68th minute. Villa 3-1 loss, left him on the bench, and then he was injured soon after which is just really bad luck.

I'd like to see him under a new manager next year and see what he could do in sensible games with a bit of confidence, IE if he can get some goals when starting a couple games against bottom 8 teams and go from there.

the cashing in with having the semi's at Wembley does not help

Agreed, should be at a neutral stadium. Hull v Sheff Utd could quite easily have been somewhere like Elland Road, for example, sure the crowd capacity is smaller but far more convenient for the fans. Villa Park for Arsenal Wigan could be another, middle distance (ish) between the respective clubs.
