What good is champions league football , FA cup runs, league cup runs, if you know the result before you go in? Did Watford fans know they'd get to the semi finals, now, there is an element of not knowing their team is incapable of performing in big games. Arsenal are so completely predictable, we go out the same way every year. We get thrashed by whoever we face in the champs league in the round of 16 and before that we get 4 games against european minnows and 2 games against a half decent european team... which we'll probably lose.
When you see exactly the same mistakes every single year for literally a decade, it sucks the fun out of watching games. Arsenal only turning up at all in the final minutes after the game looks out of reach... standard, predictable. Watching Walcott when you know he's getting 140k to care way way less about the team than you do when you struggle to afford a £50-80 ticket... that isn't funny, that's a punch on the nuts.
Arsenal are firmly in a group of teams that spend 50-100% more than the teams below them. IE this year Spurs are at around 100mil and Arsenal are at around 185mil in wages. 5 years ago it was 140mil vs 80mil, 10 years ago it was 100mil vs 60mil. With Spurs being probably the biggest spenders outside of Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, City and Utd.
We're in the big team CL wages bracket and yet of all the teams spending lets say over 110mil a year currently(you can scale that down for comparing 10 years ago) we are the single side not to be winning league or european titles. Arsenal are by a huge margin the worst performing 'big spending' team. Also in each of the leagues with similar spending powerhouse teams... a smaller team on a Spurs like budget has beaten the top spending teams to the title in that period.
