The FA CUP Third Round ** Spoilers ** [6th - 9th January 2017]

I love the FA Cup, but when it reaches the 3rd Round it just becomes a joke, other than seeing a Non league sides fans having a great time away at league club and the possible upsets its absolutely pointless as it stands. If prem team that's not fighting from the drop or going for title to 'rest' players is ridiculous, they have a genuine chance to get to a cup final for there fans.

Also, bring back the cup winners cup

I think managers know what they're doing, they field teams with players they would use in the PL, just more of them in the starting 11! Klopp was playing a league 2 side, the side he put out should have comfortably beat them.

I personally believe it devalues the competition and shows a lack of respect to the other team, also the young kids aren't actually learning anything of the more senior players, maybe if you play 1 or 2 kids in an otherwise strong side, but not when you have basically your under 19 side out. Also, look at the state of the attendances for the prem sides at weekend, the FA cup is a shambles, and the media keep hyping it up year in year out. Either respect it's tradition or don't bother entering.

Just my thoughts

No chance other teams in the English league are going to make way for that, why would they? You can bring players through, you send them on loan to Bristol City, Leeds, Rochdale..whatever team until they are good enough. It's tough luck that the teams in the prem can't have it all there way..

except loan players arent played enough to benefit the player or the club
Thats the whole point its not jsut about the EPL teams but the English international teams of the future

Who was the last non league side into the fifth round?!

I vaguely remember Telford United going on a hell of a run around 2005 but I think they got to the 4th..

My old man reckons it was Crawley vs Man Utd. Think he's right. Dammit.

Maybe not, it was Luton in 2013.

The red card in the Sutton game was ridiculous though, they showed it at half time on the bbc game.

Forgot about this post, i think it's up to the manager to make sure the players they loan out are being used properly.

I totally agree with this, but you either loan youngsters to Championship team in the hope they get game time - would league 1 even help at all (obviously depending on the youngster, but I can see it in most cases being a step too low in a lot of cases) - or they are sitting on the bench somewhere and not developing anyway.

Just to qualify "a step too low" - the jump from the championship seems to be difficult enough, and U21 league is nigh on impossible apart from a very rare few, so I just cant see League 1 or lower being any help at all.

I can't see it being a step too low when you have people like Deli Alli smashing it, it can work but if the managers aren't honest with each other then you automatically have an inefficient loan system. It's up to the clubs and managers to protect their "assets"
