The face of computer gaming.

Yes it's fine, unless you play wow, runescape or any of those nerdy rpg's. Because theres a 95% chance you're a fat loser living in your mums house if you play that crap.

Playing normal games, racing, shooting, stabbing etc. is fine really.

With the latter example, I think it's pretty odd that somebody can be bothered to invest such a large amount of time in something so isolated and unproductive.

But isnt progressing and completing a game a productive thing for a gamer?

And such spending 100+ hour sin obilivion is the higher end of hardcore gaming.

Bare in mind computer games were single player before multi player.

You can easily spend 100+ hours in some PC games on your own, but that might not be in 1 sitting and over many many sittings.

I see it like this, some people stay up at night watching junk on TV, I just sit infront of a PC for an hour or two playing a game. What difference does it make?

WoW is nothing like Runescape and is about as mainstream as online gaming has ever been. To say it's nerdy and then say those other game types are normal is pretty stupid when you consider it has more subscribers than any other game in the world.

Heirarchy of nerdism. He feels uncomfortable with his hobby and so must justify it by saying it isn't as bad as others. :D

Typical nerd response.
They're both nerd games is my point, where people powerlevel and take it really seriously. It's a true depiction of nerd gaming "In the real world, I'm a nerdy loser, in wow I'm a powerful paladin penismobob magician with a fancy hat!"

How many "winners" play wow? Really?

But is WoW gaming any different then clan gaming in FPS's?

Both genres sit on ventrilo type applications barking orders and working as a team, surely you cant say one is better then the other when both are technically the same?

I think its very easy to make a distinction between between 'chore like' levelling up games and playing typical FPS games. Both involve a certain skill, but one requires you to invest time to access features of the game that others can not.

I would potentially edge on saying that unlocking all the majority high class multi player weapons in MW2 was approaching nerdy, but then it doesn't take anywhere near the amount of time people invest in MMORPGS.

I trust you've done a lot of research in this subject to come up with a 95%. Please can I see the source?

I have yet to find a game, even some of the best RPGs, that has the depth of even a decent novel or well scripted film. The industry as a whole is only now starting to take the "writer" role seriously and has some serious catching up to do. Take Dragon Age as an example, a far too cliched plot with some absolutely terrible dialogue in parts and it is one of the better written games on the market currently!

Final Fantasy 7.

Not really, I will play a couple of hours max of need for speed or cod or something.
And most people I know are the same play a couple of hours every now and then, but almost everyone i've known to play wow plays it every day for hours and does all nighters etc.

Wow is nerdtastic bro, just admit it.

Those games are really a waste, they offer little benefit unlike FPS or RTS.

At least when I'm racking up the hours with Age of Empires or a fast paced shooter I know my brain is getting a workout and is proven to boost intelligence, not to mention I get a lot of satisfaction from winning online games.
