The type 45 is a SUPPORT vessel with less abilities then its ancestors, can we just get this clear already.

The more of them there are together, the more benefits they can bring.

I just wish our fleet wasn't pathetically small.

You your talking bull poo

In an "intensive attack" a single Type 45 could simultaneously track, engage and destroy more targets than five Type 42 destroyers operating together.;)

I just love how they are all called cool names of HMS Daring, Dauntless, Diamond, Dragon, Defender then we have the last one HMS Duncan!?! :D

BS, it has one feature missing and that's anti ship missiles, everything else is far superior to the Type 42.

And a Type 42 using its sea dart in the anti shipping mode is akin to using a Desktop PC as a radiator. The warhead doesn't arm so it relies on kinetic energy and unspent fuel to do any damage.

I just read that as HMS Diamondmark. I've been spending far too much time on these boards.

Sea dart was never really designed to do the anti shipping role
But yes it did have a limited surface-to-surface capability

Half a tonne travelling at mach 2 is still a lot of energy.
