Cheers but I think I'll wait until those are on sale, I believe in investing into good shoes but not £380
Have you thought about getting a tailor made one from a well known suit maker? http://www.asuitthatfits.com/shop/index.phpI decided last night that i need to spice up my suit collection!
I have worn suits in my last few jobs and have come to the realisation that after purchasing the first few, i settled on the same style of suit and cut for a three piece or two piece and ended up accumulating several of each in different colours. While there is a variation in colours, the style of the suits are all too similar (slim-ish modern notch lapels, cut in slightly at the waist, single breasted and cut in at the waist jacket, low rise trousers that are slim fitting). I currently have the following colours: black, OCuk lighter background blue, navy blue, charcoal grey, stone grey and light grey.
This new suit wont be massively different but seeing as it will be my newest one, i will save it for client meetings and nicer evening events, rather than the every day office grind that my current suits are used for.
I am short-ish and though of normal build. This is what i was thinking:
-Subtle pinstripe on either navy or charcoal
-Jacket to keep relatively a modern notch lapel style, cut inward at the waist slightly. Single breasted
-Waistcoat to be of classic shape. Single breasted
-Slim but not skinny mid rise trousers instead of ones that hang off the hip. No belt loops as I think mid rise trousers would look better with button braces, especially with a waistcoat
Was also thinking of getting dress shirts for it with the sleeves a bit on the long side and wearing thin metal shirt armbands.
The idea is that subtle slim pinstripes and mid-rise trousers would suit my shorter build. Am wrong in this?
I don't really do double breasted as i cant help but feel they are a bit on the old school side of things and dont mix with slim lapels or slim cut suit, am i wrong OCuk fashion gurus? I am open minded to buying more flamboyant, as long as a continue to look professional.
I have always stood by the rule that a cheap suit that fits well will always look better than an expensive one that doesn't cut the figure. Normally I buy a suit close to my sizes off the shelf and have it taken in and adjusted but i think i'll be out of luck due to anything other than low rise trousers being a rare thing these days outside of black tie suits. Any recommendations on where i can go near me apart from the obligatory Savile Row?
As i said, i have no issue with off the shelf if it almost fits me and having it adjusted.
What do you think OCuk fashion gurus?
Zero experience, I just know how popular that place is. Check online reviews.Given i have my heart set on these specs already, i think i may have to. What is your experience with the process of online tailor?

I got a black and a white pair of Axel Arigato Clean 90's as I'm too much of a peasant to afford real Common Projects. Got a nice grey denim jacket and a shed load of tees/long sleeve tees in the last All Saints sale too.
Nice! I've had a grey pair of AAs for over a year now. The quality is good but I wouldn't pay full price for a pair. FYI: There's a AA store opened near Carnaby recently too.
How do you find the leather soles? I've recently bought a similar shoe (toe cap Oxfords but in brown) from Russell and Bromley with a leather sole but haven't had much time to wear them so fare.
With (hopefully) a few interviews coming up, I thought it best to add some toe-cap Oxfords to my rotation. I was going to just get another pair of Barkers, but saw these at a great price so thought I'd try them on.
Despite the stories about Churchs being not a patch on the pre-prada days, they are incredible quality and were supremely comfortable the second I put them on. The uncorrected calf leather is extremely soft, they really feel like a step up from the couple of pairs of Barkers that I have! I suppose the proof will be in how they wear.
I suspect that you'll have to spend getting on for £100 to get something worthwhile. Have you looked at Douchebags? https://douchebags.com/base-15lAnyone have recommendations for a good-looking laptop rucksack? I have an old North Face bag which I've used for a while, but I'm travelling for work a bit more now... days out of the office etc. Looking for media industry/casual type stuff, no leather bags etc please
E.g. I love the look of this; https://www.vans.co.uk/shop/en-gb/vans-gb/men/vans-x-mission-workshop-backpack-1hbblk but it's not a laptop bag. I like the Herschel ones but I wouldn't buy one as they're so damn common. Also would prefer something cheaper than that Vans/MX one

Not really any different from other leather soles Very comfortable but not as hard wearing i imagine. When these wear down I'll get them replaced with Dainite. My Barker semi brogue toe caps are Dainite and it's fantastic.
Have you tried these?

I've had my current Barkers for about 5 years and never had to replace the leather sole, but I have been through about three sets of stick-on-soles.
I've read that adding stick on soles isn't good for the shoe, so i've not tried it...would rather just get dainite put on when the leather wears out.
Make sure you get the soles ruWith (hopefully) a few interviews coming up, I thought it best to add some toe-cap Oxfords to my rotation. I was going to just get another pair of Barkers, but saw these at a great price so thought I'd try them on.

The first thing I do when I buy shoes with leather soles is get a rubber sole put on them at the cobblers... you are just ruining them otherwise and they are slippy as hell in cold weather. Not really any different from other leather soles Very comfortable but not as hard wearing i imagine.
