Got my MSI P45 Neo-F an hour or so ago; put in the E7200, 2gb of OCZ xtc PC6400 RAM and a 7600GT and the ******* thing wouldn't POST. I've tried all the usual suspects, reset CMOS, put in 1 stick of RAM, tried some Corsair PC5400 RAM, changed to a 7300GT gfx, disconnected all drives except the one with the OS on and still no POST.

When switching on the fans run, but nothing else happens, no beeps :(

Unless anyone has a bright idea, it's going back tomorrow.

Coolermaster Hyper TX2 - are you thinking that one without a four pin connector might not work?

I doubt it. The worst you should get is a warning siren, but it should still POST ok.

But then that's something only you'll be able to confirm til someone else pops up with that board.

Have you connected the 4 pin cable (I know you will have, but, meh).

No I was thinking that some large heatsinks that need to be screwed onto a board sometimes cause the motherboard to short due to the pins on the back of the CPU socket going through the thin foam of the HSF backplate and touching the metal. I had that when I installed my Noctua and it had me scratching my head for a while until I researched the symptoms and came accross the solution... I had to put extra layers of electrical tape on the backplate ot stop the pins poking through. Don't think that's your problem though. :)

It's possible you have a dead board... or that something else in your system is shorting your motherboard... which is rare but not unheard of. I would as a last resort try taking EVERYTHING out of the case and then putting it all back in bit by bit meticulously. If it doesnt start again just send the mutha back. Alternatively, just order another now so it gets here quick and send this one back for a refund under the DSA. :)

As above said yeah sounds silly but could be the smallest thing really.

Check the 4 or 8pin? cpu connector is connected to the mainboard and the main ATX lead is in.

Check the power cable is connected to the graphics card to power it up also...

Id even go as much to try the motherboard out of the Case without the Case header wires, just tap a screwdriver on the powerswitch pins and see if it comes on. Sometimes the cpu heatsink under bracket if its metal can cut off mobos or even the case !

Also dont connect any other cards or ide cables or anything else just bare bones cpu, ram, heatsink, graphics, ps.....

Done all that and changed the CPU to a E4400 - ITS DEAD:mad:

Was'nt someone saying the other day that the P45 chipset is extremely fussy about memory?

Personally i would never touch one of MSI's Neo-F boards again. I have had a play with P31 and P35 chipset Neo-F boards this past couple of weeks and have had serious problems with both. Cheap and nasty pieces of junk.

Hey, had the same issue with some Corsair Dominator, had to use some generic PC5300 to boot (would boot with or without the dominator) and change voltages, however this was with a Neo-3 FR, odd this is this dominator would run far past PC6400 speeds at 1.8v on other boards but refused to post on this.

yes voltage issue maybe, ram that is

Have no suggestions my end, just saying hope you get it sorted dude. Although I'd probably suggest calling overclockers or wherever you got it & seeing what they have to say. One thing I can contribute is I had the EXACT same problem, but it was because I used the wrong screws in the motherboard, they were shorting it out, dumb I know, but yeah... anyway hope it gets resolved a.s.a.p, I remember just how annoying it was when I built a pc and it was just all going down the drain.

Had the same problem with my brothers PC. It wouldnt boot with crucial balistix, just fans i think, not even a beep.

Put in generic RAM it booted.

Updated BIOS, put crucial back in...ta da!

was that me?
but it is not that bad with my P45 on hand.
just to a few pairs of RAM.
