The **Foodie Purchases** Thread

Came in at about £115. Not cheap, but seeing as it'd being divided by 10 people who are all chipping in, it works out at just over a tenner a head. It's a pretty lean cut, and with a bit more fat on it it could have added an extra £15 or so.

If I lived in Whitechapel, I would have got it from Smithfields. Would have saved yourself over £50.

Doubt you'd have got 6kg of fore rib for £60 at Smithfield! We spoke to a couple of butchers locally, as I'm in Dorset this weekend, and the cheapest in this area for that weight was £17 per kilo... Also I was after longhorn specifically which isn't the easiest to track down.

I'm not sure about the beef, but Smithfields is usually very cheap compared to anywhere else i've seen.

For example, a lot of people (including the post further up this page) buy chicken breast from Westin Gourmet online butchers - they are doing 5kg of chicken breast for £32.51. You can get 5kg of chicken breast from Smithfields for £20, and potentially even haggle if you were buying more!

Great place to get your meat!

I hope its better than my experience with them I had to use their no quibble money back guarantee was average at best :( Was so ****ed off as it was a very special occasion

What happened with your order? Was it not up to standard?

This is only my third for fourth order with DR but I have been happy so far. I have only bought steaks/sausages/bacon though :p

I tried a rib-eye last night and have also had some sausages, and both of these were spot on :)

Matty, unsmoked? :(

:p

I tried that Lucky stuff once (got it for the bottle obvs), and thought it was pretty awful. It's a pretty thin, tasteless lager. Like Carling but a little less fizzy.

Thought I would revive this thread!

Bought a box of meat from Westin Gourmet last week and it was delivered yesterday. The sausages are amazing!

Looking forward to trying the Steak and the Bacon especially.

Has anyone bought the chicken breasts from Westin, also bought them from musclefood.com? If so, how do they compare?
