The fulltime Commitment of pc gaming

At the moment, I have this crack like addiction to The Division and have not played any other games or bought any since. I want to play Deus ex and Battlefield 1 but they will have to wait while this current addiction runs it's course.

One of the many reasons I never really play new titles. I spend the limited time I get on titles that I truly enjoy.

Falcon BMS
Mass Effect
Skyrim / Fallout 4 (rarely both at the same time)
STALKER

Time Management.
If I put my mind to it, then so long as work isn't being a pain, I can get in up to 40 hours a week of gaming. :D

I'd suggest avoiding the Hitman stuff, myself, unless you're a serious fan of the whole assassin idea. I kept hearing about it and finally got a massive bundle of everything... Within a day I'd gone through it all and hated the lot. It was such a let down.

It depends. I usually have 1 or 2 games from each genre as i never know what kind of mood i will be in. e.g. when im in the mood for sneaky stuff i have Splinter Cell Blacklist. When i want action rpg i have Witcher 2...the problem with Witcher 2 is i dont play it for a long time i have to read everything to find out where i am in the story and gear that i have lol. For strategy i am still playing Shogun 2.

I think SOMA looks to be the best bet as it isnt a freeroaming monster of a game that i will never finish haha :D

edit: Soma and Deus Ex i think. Cant buy Witcher 3 yet because i cant play it until i finish 2.

36 here and same issue as OP. Girlfriend encourages me to play my games but time is so rare. If I get in 6 hours a week I'm lucky. I tend to focus on one game at a time to remember controls and immersion. Currently working my way through Blood and Wine, although this week I played about 2 hours tops.

Anyway, try Witcher 3.

i usually try and work out an equation factoring in cost £ then x grindiness / how playable on sofa and then buy whatever fits into that small bracket. Of course means i miss a lot of keyb and mouse games (e.g. divinity sigh and satelite reign :() I'm planning on getting a wireless keyb and mouse.

But i think i will have to cut out all online gaming as that seems the most "time-sinky" and you never really complete them. I suppose the timing is good because my ISP is crap right now (lots of packet loss all the time)

You'll be happy to know that Divinity Original Sin can now be played with a controller (and I believe split-screen coop if you're that way inclined :))

To OP, definitely the witcher 3, firstly because it's awesome, secondly because half the games on your list will seems shallow and boring afterwards and will only take you 10mins to get bored of :p

Witcher 3. Definitely. There is a reason it won OCUK GOTY 2015 and the DLC is winning GOTY 2016.

Grab the base game and if you are still interested after finishing it then you can grab the DLCs as they are just as good (if not a little better).

FYI it's not a short game but it is pretty much amazing the entire duration. I have finished the base game and both DLCs once plus done some extra achievement hunting and racked up 280 hours. However I was extremely slow at doing everything cause I had a 2 month winter holiday to complete it.

Stop buying new games you pillock lol

On a serious note, I've started waiting for games to drop in price, only recently bought Farcry 4 (£6) as I saw no reason to jump on it at release etc.

Then a throw money at Star citizen and elite dangerous, maybe I'm the pillock, yup yeah definitely me.

Cant speak for the others, but Witcher 3 without a doubt, especially if you have the blood and wine dlc.

Witcher 3 Is probably the best game on the list I absolutely loved it.

would echo Witcher 3.. i'm only about 1 hour in and it's absolutely riveting.

Play The Witcher 3 + DLC first.

So.......you are ...saying...i should buy Witcher 3? :D

I suppose i could marathon the last quarter of Witcher 2 (at ch3 currently)

Yep, Witcher 3. CDKEYS got it for £22 for the GOTY. Unimaginable value if you ask me. Wish I could buy it again, just to take advantage of that price!

Out of that list, I'd say SOMA.

I know your pain, I find I really have to budget time these days to play games and really focus on one game to get the best out of it.

Im a mega Alien fan...but I still have not completed Alien Isolation. Shocking. Im trying to play through it now and Id forgotten how much I love this game because it is scary and why I hate this game because it is scary lol.

After browsing a bit :D

Soma £9
Deus Ex MD £22
Witcher 3 GOTY £26.99(includes all the dlc)

Mass Effect Trilogy £13.99 (cheapest i've seen this at)
Spec Ops The Line £3.99
This is the Police £9.23

Also like the look of Beholder £6.99

Havent decided what to buy yet.

I can relate to this when real life gets in the way having a family

I remember the good old days sitting in my bedroom having a 12hr gaming session and going to bed when the birds starting chirping. Then i got a job and had to wake up at 5am every morning including most weekends after that making friends and going out into the world having drinking sessions.

The inevitable meeting of the wife having a few fumbles and before you know it your spawn is taking up your every hour whining about being thirsty every 10 mins of the day :D

I know your pain friend i know it well....

My problem is i just keep buying games because of the deals then i fire them up for 30 mins before the immersion is broken by "i want this, i want that"

Also i have to balance locking myself away sitting in front of a monitor for x amount of time. Usually handing over cash for shopping allows me the swift hour or two but it soon expires when i find myself doing things around the house after the bedlam of a young thug.

Ahhh that venting that out feels better :D

I'm looking forward to star citizen immensely. Infact I'm saving up right now. Not for the game but to hand over more money to wife and child for longer shopping trips.

i simply cant bear it so scary playing with headset all that racket the thing makes in the vents, think i got pretty far when i had it on xbox but playing on PC seems to make me squirm like a little girl.

I'm holding off on playing it again till i get the htc vive thats my excuse anyway.

I had a revelation not so long ago.

You don't have to finish any game just because you started it.

So now I play a couple hours of each game in my queue, and then consider it "done". So if it doesn't grab hold of me, shake me around, and leave me absolutely hooked, then I move on after one or two play sessions.

It's glorious. I can enjoy all that Steam has to offer in this way.

Let's face it ... how many games have you figured out after the first couple levels? You've seen their gimmick. The following 10-100 hours is really more of the same, no?

So only finish the ones which are 9/10 games in every aspect. Those which fall short (iffy music, controls, whatever)... get a couple hours. You can always revisit after whittling down your queue to a more manageable size.

Agree with this. The Wither 3 and DLC is just unbelievably good. It doesn't get as much praise it really deserves. Easily one of the best ever RPG's created. I'm actually playing blood and wine DLC now.

Unfortunately I don't get much time to game these days. I decided I wanted a higher earning job about a year ago so these days I have loads and loads of study to do.

I still game, but the realty of the situation is I'm lucky if I get an hour a day. Some times it might be one or two hours in a week.

But don't let gaming take over your life. It's a leisure activity. Get other things in your life sorted them you can enjoy your leisure time.

If he wants to game let him game. What do you mean get other things sorted in his life?
