Is anyone else watching this program about the fur trade on BBC 1 at the moment?

The clip with what they do to dogs in China made me sick to my stomach. I knew this went on, but each time I see it, it still shocks me.

I was just wondering, what is everyone elses view on fur?

Personally I've always been against it because I've never seen the need to kill something so needlessly and in most cases in a very cruel way.
I'm not against fake fur, but because fake fur is fashionable it's meaning there is a market for those who wish to, to sell real fur. So, in that sense I'm against it.

It's not even if the fur is being used for clothing because we're pefectly able to clothe ourselves without the need for fur.

Is there anyone who can genuially defend killing something so cruelly just to wear its skin? Is it just blind ignorance?

Is this where they have dogs just crammed in small cages?

They treat them worse than if they were dead. It's sick.

And why skin them alive?

I can't stand to watch that happening to animals. It's worse than those beheading videos :(

I couldn't watch it mate. :(
I tried but as soon as that chinese dude started slamming animals to the floor i had to wheelspin. I just caught site of that Alsation. How can people do that. This kind of cruelty upsets me. :(

Serious response time, Yes it's totally sick and evil in my opinion. Same with most animal cruelty. I wouldn't mind so much if they were dead already, as it's a natural way of getting resources just like eating meat. Makes you wonder what goes through the head's of the people that do it.

I had to switch the channel when I saw what he was going to do to that dog :(
I'm watching again now, but it's just not right.

Is there a charity number being given out at all if so could you post it. Or a web addy.
I can't switch back i already have those two images stuck in my head i don't want any more but i would like the addys or numbers if given out.
Thanks.

yeah it does seem quite horrific.

however, where do you think the leather that makes your shoes, gloves, jackets comes from?

how about the conditions that many millions of chickens are kept in so that we the consumer can benefit from rock bottom prices in the supermarket?

its all relative really, whats seems barbaric to us is normal to other people. i think that thinking that our 'civilised' culture can be applied to every other country on earth is one of the major problems in the world.

I like wearing leather.

I like the look and feel of fur.

At the end of the day, I'm paying for it; I want them to suffer a bit ;)

thats quite sick penski....

you should care what is on your back or on your legs etc, wallet whatever apparel it is, you should care where it came from despite the costs.

Why?

I have no emotional attachment to whatever animal provided the leather for my wallet, shoes et cetera. Why should I care about what it was or how it died?

Absolutely horrendous  . I couldn't believe what I was seeing when they showed the footage from China. Even worse where you caught a glimpse of that undercover footage of an Alsatian being skinned alive. :( . I saw that and was very nearly sick. :(
