The Fury(X) Fiji Owners Thread

True, true. I wasn't sure what to expect though. This is my first water cooled build, I love how there's practically no change in noise levels between when it's idle and when it's firing on all cylinders. :)

I got some stick elsewhere for choosing the Noctua fans but I don't know of any that perform better (especially at 140mm) and I got used to the colours years ago.

The noctua's are fine. I still have my Gentle Typhoons which are awesome but they are no longer made but using the Corsair SP fans on my rads do a great job as well. So long as they give good pressure at low revs and not noisy, we are happy.

THANK YOU SO MUCH! Let me just say that at most I notice a 5fps difference in favour of SLI 980Ti's in Heirarch Square, but in Frichlow you're 10 FPS faster in Patch 1.07. My cards were hitting mid 40's there especially near that damned Gargoyle spot.

I did notice you have more jaggies in Hierarch Square for some reason, and NPC texture popin is there. Although that's entirely down to CDPR's latest patch.

I have to say with hairworks enabled I'm really impressed, and I wonder if you've tried lowering the Tessellation in the Catalyst Control centre from x64 to like x16 time. Apparently that gives 90% similar visual with a good performance improvement.

All in all 'm really impressed with your cards, and by how well they're handling maxed out Hairworks. Seems that Xfire scaling is really helping.

I also notice a distinct difference in colour pallete between NVIDIA and AMD, although it might also just be down to cloud cover in your game at the time.
Here's my Hierarch Square screenshots at 12pm game time as well.

Now, if I do swap and get two Fury X cards I think I'll be rather happy. I'll just need to flog my G-Sync panel and get that lovely Asus FreeSync to replace it also.

Cheers bud, not bad results at all for stock cards imo:D i'm not sure what happened with the one screenshot and all the jaggies, seems AB butchered it but the others are fine, not touched any settings in the CCC, all stock.

I'll try and replicate you exact shot now.

Edit- AB was saving a Jpegs, changed to Bmp which seems to cleared the image up.

Those look much better, and your fps in those shots are identical to mine with my Superclocked 980Tis.

Very impressive all round from the Fury X cards; especially in the swamp where in Patch 1.07 you were well head performance wise. Xfire scaling is doing a great job there.

I do think you should try lowering CCC Tessellation to x16 and see what happens to performance. Apparently it makes a great difference to some.

Nice work dude.

Btw there was a new patch yesterday for GTA V and it appears to have improved some of the performance drops/stuttering. :)

Something interesting I've just found with these cards, the load indicator LEDs are on the circuitboard, not the cooler, so even with a waterblock you still get the effect.

Yes you do but what they don't tell you (EK certainly don't anyway) is that the switch to change the colours of turn them off is hidden when you put the backplate on. I wanted to see how the LEDs look in blue but I cba to take the plate off.

I didnt know you could change the colours, I was wondering whether it was possible to turn them off in software or something. I did see a little tiny white switch and wondered what it was for, assumed dual bios or something.

I like the LEDs but I have the side panel of the case of and the LEDs are going 1,2,3 flickering on and off when im just web browsing, a more gentle animation would be appreciated I guess.
