The Fury(X) Fiji Owners Thread

Cheers for uploading ;) Yeap! Can hear it dude.
So whats your plans? Going to see if you get used to it over the weekend?

It doesn't sound too bad, i can hear it, but not as loud as the one from here, but im not sure if thats the norm, its supposed to sound like that, with not using a one before, and some say its supposed to be silent, just a hum (think it was Gregster), and for the life of me, i just can't get it to run GTA V ok, its totally unplayable on it, stuttering, hitching and what not, so thinking about just taking it back and cutting my losses, stick with my 290, as GTA V run superb on that, just can't play it on this, and i don't know why, as i said above, same memory size, same settings, same drivers, but its just a no go on it, and why it reads the memory amount wrong in the game menu. :(

Im gona mull it over, over the weekend.

We've been told by AMD they've made adjustments in the sound baffling adhesive compound in the assembly of the coolmaster pump to address the specific sounds we're hearing. That's great.. But where are they? The card I bought last week had no such thing.
Something else that's bothering me. Why is the R9 Fury making whinning noises when it's under load? There's no AIO pump on the fury so why? Are we facing two sound problems here? Pump whine and coil whine?

Example: https://youtu.be/miMaW894kjw?t=445

Personally i think the Fury x features not only a noisy pump, but it's coupled with coil whine issues like some furys. It's hard to tell with the noisy pump but I'm sure both my cards had coil whine also.

suppy, coil whine starts when fps hits around 2000 mark. Do you have games which can run at these speeds? or do you play game menus all day long? I never heard my 2 cards coil whine while playing any game. The only time I heard it make noise was during 3dmark runs where fps would hit 1800 mark or so. that never bothered me any bit, as I knew that once I am finished kiddies benchmarking stuff I will have perfectly quiet cards.

Check his FPS in top left.. hes at 54 fps. By the way if was running at 2000 + fps don't you think his fans would have engaged? :)
The reason I mentioned this is because I was getting this same noise on my Furyx while idling..

is there anyone else having same 'noise' from their fury x? When my cards hit 1800+fps mark the coil whine is very loud, much much loader than that in the video you linked.
Also I would bet that this 'noise' would be inaudible when put inside of the decent case.
My coil whine would be heard even if I put it in space, but since it is only when kiddie benching above 1800fps, I don't really care.

Fantastic overclock on that Fury Pro. At 1450Mhz it is basically as fast as an equivalent clocked TitanX which would make the FuryX the fastest card at that speed.

Too bad we haven't got any voltage unlocking software yet.

1450 was done with ln2. It is impressive but nothing to e-pen about in desktop department ;)

Hes running at 54 fps.. His fans are running at like 10%

Loadsa, have you actually tried reinstalling the game? why would you return perfectly good card for one game, which is playing up and is not cards fault?

I havn't no, be too much of a fart on though wouldn't it ?, don't want to balls up my social account. :p

Don't even know if it would work, as when i take the FX out, and pop my 290 back in, it goes back to running superb, doesn't need reinstalling, so why would it need it, when swapping to the FX

Just had a 30 minutes blast on GTAV and it runs fine, think i have the same settings as i used with the 290X. I am using the driver windows 10 installed.
When I first started playing it had a bit of a stutter but it was a fresh install and it had most of the settings maxed so just dropped shadow to normal and that sorted it.

Well i don't ******* know, popped my 290 back in, but forgot to take the drivers back off first, so when i booted up, removed them then, then reinstalled em again, fired up GTA, put my settings back in, night and bloody day, smooth as a babys bum again, running superb, why!, why!, why!

I wonder if it is down to the memory management - there are rumours it aggressively manages memory even when it doesn't need to but no idea if there is anything to that. GTA though is always a bit hit and miss if it runs smoothly.

just try it. you won't mess up any social accounts :D you are just reinstalling the game, not the social club.
on the other note, don't be lazy, ffs

It's a true shame it takes aftermarket hard mods to unlock the true power of these cards :(

it is weird way to do it as well :D
get fury, non x. roll the lottery ball to unlock the shaders, and then put them under cold :D why not get a frikkin fully working fury x, and then put her on cold. I think results might be much much better ;)

I couldn't see what vcore voltage he was using for the ln2 mod. Any ideas? Also didn't mention what temps but I guess its a non-issue with ln2.

I find coil whine just as annoying as pump whine, neither of my 980ti's have coil whine no matter what the fps are ;)

Pretty sure my Fury X's did not have coil whine either, maybe a PSU issue?
