The Fury(X) Fiji Owners Thread

85% performance of a 980ti for 100% of the price and doesn't overclock, am I missing something?

at 4k 98% of the performance, same price (for now) although £75 cheaper if you factor in AIO and wont overlock until the voltage conterol is in place.........

Why cant everybody just agree that at stock the two cards are basically on par with each other. Each have their pros and cons.

You talk like we all want an AIO, we don't.. I think the cards will be fine when the dust settles etc. but AMD do themselves no favors, they really need to sort the PR out and stop saying things that come back to bite them.

But leaving out HDMI 2.0 was just stupid. It sends a message "if you going to get a 4K TV, then don't buy this"

I need a new card myself, been stuck with my 6950 since forever, I really want a Fury X but I just can't afford to splash out 500 quid for an inferior card if AMD don't sort out their ****.

I also can't stand nvidia so it's either bite my tongue and go green, or cross my fingers and legs and hope AMD have a few tricks up their sleeve. Only AMDMatt can answer that one really :)

I'll buy one today if they release some solid information about over-clocking/voltage unlocking & it's maximum potential (assuming the results are good).

The longer they wait on this the more people will make a choice based on what they know today. I'd like to know if the AMD reps have any info or can at least give us an indication, I'm trying to go back to AMD but they are making it very difficult for me lol.

The cheaper Fury is out on the 14th,and I can't see that being much slower going by previous AMD releases.

Iv very much started to avoid nvidia cards just because of their anti consumer products like gameworks and gsync. Iv seen nvidia do the same in a lot of segments, create a technology or software that intentionally segments the market.

Take gameworks for example, it a closed source vendor specific middlewhere (it doesn't use the Direct X API). nvidia probably design their GPUs to make use of their own rendering methods/tech (over the normal DirectX / OpenGL methods), the issue here is that no one outside nvidia can optimize and probably make use of these methods. Now I know all nvidia users will jump up and point a finger at AMD and mantle, this isnt the same. At its core mantle was not vendor specific and is now being used in the new cross vendor and cross platform Vulkan. </rant>

So im getting a fury x when stocks get better (maybe wait for the first round of price drops)

4096 shaders vs 3584 for the Fury. Seems to be quite a cut...

Not really - only around 10% which is the around the same as the R9 290X and R9 290,HD7970 and the HD7950 or the HD6970 or the HD6950 and so on. No need to overdramatise things.

Plus since these will be fully customised cards, and the Fury X is in the same TDP class as the R9 290X(or a bit less),then it means with the coolers from the R9 290X,I don't see why they should not come close to the Fury X.

Sad to see your great thread ruined Kaap. :(

Nonetheless I will be joining the club today. :)

I always thought that there needs to me more suspensions are needed for off topic behaviors and that it should be a zero tolerance for such.

Waiting for the 14 of July for the next Fury before I can join up.

Soon as AB author gets test sample and can identify the vreg the routines to query said module will be added into the program. translation want voltage control send him a card or find out what module is used.

Matt what drivers will you use?

I don't want to make you more work than needed, but can you check the 15.15 vs 15.200.1040 drivers? Pleeeaseee

I'll be using either 15.15 or the 15.20 drivers from Guru3D. There is not much difference between them, 15.15 is just an earlier, more stable version of 15.20.
