The future of Aion

This may even sway me in to getting back in to a MMORPG. The lack of some of these features was what stopped me from picking up Aion when it first come out.

Looks very nice indeed, hopefully they will continue to add and spend time/effort on the game as I thought it truly had potential on release.

Lack of dynamic weather effects is one of those little things that always bugs me more than it should in a game. Makes the world seem a bit more real if you log out in sunshine and back into a raging thunderstorm. It'll be interesting to see how they do it in Aion.

I'm not sure a graphical overhaul with some additional content is enough to draw back the many, like me, who tried it but ultimately gave up. It's a decent MMORPG as it stands, but NCSoft really need to get control of the bots, gold selling, linear play, crashes during fortress seiges and the levelling grind before it becomes a mainstream success.

Valid points.

On the plus side, they did ban 16,000 accounts for botting yesterday.

Having said that, I truly dont want it to become a mainstream success, imo mainstream success actually makes the game the sort of game I wouldnt want to play. I'm happy for it to be a successful niche MMO (like EvE Online for example) and stay true as possible to its original design concepts as its that playstyle which attracted me in the first place.

My problem not sure if any agree was not the grind it was the solo grind. Back in FFXI days i loved the fact you could only get to lvl 20 solo just enough time to grasp your class then it was hardcore party leveling for years:) the fact that you had to talk to other people have a conversation and a laugh was fantastic you had to be social. Yeah we have guilds but there not the same there always the groups of click in every guild is the way it goes. hope aion come somewhere near untill ffx1v online :p

Best solution to that would be to implement the same kind of bonuses that Daoc had. A grouping XP bonus and a camping XP bonus. That would help steer people towards group grinding rather than solo grinding.

That's about 800 bots per server

Edit - Actually it's only about 400 or 500, I wasn't counting the US servers. Still, that's a lot of bot :)

and the regular gold sellers are still there camped in the main areas. so take the press release with a pinch of salt. The no doubt banned a load, just not their own.

Looks like a great set of updates due to come (some will probably be scraped though). But a great vision and considering a lot of that stuff has actually been made to make a very well presented trailer is a very good sign. NcSoft never cease to impressive with their dedication to their MMOs.

I didnt log in last night, so I wasnt able to check to see if any of the ones I have commonly seen were still there.

I'm sure quite a few of the botters will buy new accounts anyway, but having said that its still good to see 16,000 accounts banned. Its a start at least.

:o but I havn't finished with the current version yet :/

BTW they have fixed the crashing on the cryengine.dll thingy.....at least for me... Last patch
