The gaming music thread.

I find it quite sad that some people do not like game music and turn it off. Music in games really sets atmosphere all the way back to the early 90s playing Amiga games for me.
Some of the opening title scenes with music is baked into my head because it gave me chills (good and bad) Shadow of the Beast, Turrican series, Death Mask, Alien Breed and many more.

Even when I play or listen to them now (usually longplay of games on youtube) I get memories of playing games in the attic with friends in the dark. The music even now give me chills. Imagine playing these as a 9 year old (intro scene and music is what I remember the most)

And my favourite game tune of all time, from the master Hans Zimmer, this is a masterpiece that will never get the credit it deserves. There are several different versions, this is my favourite:

A few C64 favourites of mine.

Rob Hubbard - Sanxion

Matt Gray - The Last Ninja 2 (Central Park Theme)

Ben Daglish - The Last Ninja (Various)

Martin Galway - Ocean Loader 1

Ended up listening to some Sims 1 music. The piano pieces are so good, yet quite melancholic, nostalgic, and oddly comforting.

Stellaris has many great tracks but one I somehow missed from X4 I really like too. I think it's because its a certain DLC menu music so if you play different DLC or don't have it you don't ever hear it.

A few selects from some of the games that I think have had really good music in the last couple of years:

Returnal - Certainly a marmite game, I loved it and thought the music and atmosphere were brilliant, some of the reveals towards the ned of the story and how it tied to the music were great.

Warhammer 40K Darktide - Another where the atmosphere and music really went well together, some of the combat/set piece music is fantastic and really gets you pumped in the moment

Armoured Core 6 - Just a very cool sounding OST in general with how they mix electronic, orchestral and vocal together

The PS1 Doom OST posted a while back brought back some memories, that coupled with cool ambient lighting and darker tone made it pretty scary for a young kid like me to play through back in the day.

Of the classic soundtracks I always liked the sound of the 3DO version:
