All very well if your uniform is rubbish, but I actually prefer our uniform as it very smart and does look very nice.

Are you talking about a specific uni? Because that rule most certainly does not apply to most unis for medicine.

Uniforms in school I've found make it more likely for the students to have their tie hanging by their ankles, their shirts untucked and their top 3 buttons on their shirts undone. If the student gets to pick what they wear (Smart office wear) then they're likely to take more pride in their appearence but maybe that's just my school :p..

They all have different policies regarding GCSEs. Some of them do that, others don't. Their websites explain how they use GCSE results.

Eg: Leicester marks top 6 GCSEs with points, A*=6, A=5, B=4 etc

King's balances GCSEs with UKCAT to select candidates. Other universities have different policies. Some don't care that much about GCSEs at all.

Just your school probably ha, vast majority of Sixth Formers from my school I have seen have been smart enough, not perfect but smart, and the ones that don't comply are very quickly spotted and dealt with.. my school takes uniform very seriously as you can tell :p - for the better I think actually.
 
I hope Ofcom don't walk around schools making reports :o :p Ofsted, the one or two days of the year where every school rule is enforced without fail.
