The GF wants a car! (any recomendations)

R.E that MX5, wouldn't such a big engine in the front wreck the weight distribution and thus the handling?

I have to agree with a few who have said K11 Micra. Having owned one, cheap to run (both for servicing and fuel economy), I awesome visibility (for parking), and cheap to buy and insure. She could probably get a 1.3 which would provide plenty of poke.

You probably wont find insurance will be too high, for example my gf (20, 0NCB) paid £440 on a mk3 Golf 2.0 GTI. This has fallen to £350 on her mk3 1.6 now that we have changed for that. This is only for 10 months mind.

The best solution is to go for a golf, if you treat it right and give it a good clean before selling you will probably MAKE money on it, rather than lose it. Over a good few months of fern using the GTI i made a profit overall including all running costs. Some of the cheapest cars around overall, plus girls love golfs for some reason. I wouldnt get a MK2 though, thats really pushing things design/age wise :)

I recon a Peugoet 106 would more that fit the bill, if you can get one with PAS thats going to give her bags of confidence...a nice 3 door too.

Engine size at the mo doesnt matter, theyre all quite nippy round town. If you can get the 1.1l 106 @ the right price then your on to a winner, great, cheap, and fun....
