The graphics card minefield...

How many games are going to use raytracing/currently use it? I am going to be playing baldurs gate 3, diablo 4, warzone 2.0 and maybe god of war series and elden ring.

Amd tends to do quite well in warzone. If you love warzone 6900xt is all you need tbh.

My problem with 7900xtx is that the aibs on both the XT and XTX are above or at. 4080 anyway and I view that as a better card all things being equal… (I think it’s common acceptance XT is a great card if it were cheaper.

MSI 6950xt factory overclock edition at £750 seems like the best 'value' then
There aren’t a ton of reviews comparing them specifically… it basically is £150 difference is it worth it or not 17% price difference is worth that improvement which seems to be around 10-15/20%?

Growing number of games including Cyberpunk 2077 and Callisto Protocol, plus former games getting RT updates. I haven't really used my 3070 for RT yet but I do see a number of people mention (for the two previous examples) RT being very subtle or hard to notice, especially in motion and performance hit.

BG3 - likely. D4 - unlikely. WZ 2.0 - unlikely + you wouldn't use it there. God of War Ragnarok - 50/50. Elden Ring - technically it was announced but we'll see if they actually add it.

There are some where it's basically required, like Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition, and next year's Avatar game from Ubi Massive, which is going to be bonkers, but not usually. More likely it will be pushed heavily as games switch to Unreal 5 since Lumen will basically rely heavily on RT hw acceleration as well on PC, and most major devs have switched to that engine, so...

Yeh I’ve been looking at the next gen releases (unreal 5) and can’t look past nvidia coming out on top with its RT performance in those games. I’ve got a 6900xt so I’m sitting on the fence for awhile what with silly prices etc. Seems a really bad time to buy as fluctuations seem likely with new releases and stock not moving.

Bit the bullet got a Zotac airo 4080 gtx for £1260. **** best bang for buck lol...The 4090 seemed overkill and I like the low power draw of the 4080.......

Let's hope my 5 year old motherboard will support the card :p Asus Prime X370 pro
