The GTX 980 Ti owners thread.

Yeh im gonna buy the swift i've decided, even if they come out with the IPS one soon etc im more all about the fastest response times possible and so on and the current swift serves that purpose perfectly, a great monitor can last a very, very long time after all :) how big of a PSU do you think i'd need to have two of these overclocked in SLI as well as a 4790k? 1000w? 1200w for headroom?

Look what I just fitted. Whooo Haaa Haa Haa Haaaaaaaarrrrrrr

Your case is so clean, mine is a dusty mess.

Even the dust has dust on it these days.

Did you order from OCUK?

no competitor. Did I fool you? Its a reference card with the 980ti EVGA Hybrid cooler on. I must be mad.
Just done some benchmarks and drop of 20c in 3d Mark from 86c to 66c and drop of 30c in 3d Mark 11 from 85c to 55c.
I expect gaming to be around the 50-55c instead of the previous 84-86c. Allowed me to improve my overclock a bit too not sure how
much although broke the barrier of 20000 in 3dMark 11 now which is wow.

You wont regret getting the swift, best monitor i have ever had. I prefer it to the 4k one i have. To be honest 4k is good but there isnt a HUGE difference between 4k and 1440p. And for most games the 144hz just outweighs the 4k at 60 for me anyway. BF4 at 144hz 1440p is just butter smooth its unreal, might aswell have your arms infront of you pointing the gun its that smooth, for me its far more immersive and enjoyable than 4k at 60fps.

And yeah the IPS version would be nice but with the quality of the TN on the swift its really not needed for gaming, id prefer the faster response aswell.

Get what ever you can afford for gaming id get atleast the 4790k with a decent cooler for overclocking. I would get again what PSU you can afford 1000w is plenty. My system uses under 650w on full load with the cpu on 4.5ghz and the GPU's maxed out so mine with 980ti's when they arrive will be under 750w fully maxed out. But if you can get 1200w for a little more or similar price to the 1000 get the 1200 for future headroom but yeah 1000 is plenty enough.

Maybe one of the evga reps can chime in and tell us whats up with availability of this.

Hi guys

I did post earlier last week to hopefully give you an idea but hopefully I can shed some more light.

This is a very new product for EVGA as you will be aware. We had an idea demand would be strong but never anticipated the demand we are seeing on the GTX 980Ti Hybrid units. Couple that with GTX980Ti being still in limited supply and we are in a fight to keep up with demand.

At the end of this week we will land a very limited quantity with OCUK it is looking like the end of the following week (roughly July 3rd) before I will be able to ship a meaningful volume of stock though to indent the sizable backorders.

If you are the lucky few you might get stock this week coming but I apologise to those who continue to wait. I hope your patience is well rewarded when the cards arrive.

Thanks
Ben

Thanks for the comprehensive update Ben. As I'm sure you know it's hard waiting for your new toy when you see everyone else playing with theirs.

Good things come to those who wait and I haven't seen any other 980ti that comes close to the hybrid in terms of OC, Coolness and quiet (unless you're going for a custom loop of course)...plus with a backplate and the gold shroud...sexy looking card

But perhaps for those of us who ordered on day 1, perhaps you could convince Gibbo to do us a special upgrade offer to the EVGA Titan X hybrid...

Should have taken a look at the G1 then. Better power delivery should mean higher OC and more importantly a more stable card. You also don't have the worry that your hobby could turn into an expensive lawn sprinkler ;)

I was sorely tempted, trust me.

And I've had a great Gigabyte card in the past but want something very quiet this time. Not knowledgable (brave) enough to go full watercooling so the Hybrid looks good.

What card did you go for then? How is the G1, people seem to really rate it very highly

not sure this is the place to post this but im looking to upgrade my 7970 xfire in the next month or so.

im weighing my options around either the fury X dependant on how it performs ofc or a 980ti, maybe even xfire/sli just because I can, are there any benchmarks results anywhere compairing xfire 7970s to a 980ti? I know obv theres no fury benchmarks yet

I game at 1080 120hz and like to have all settings maxed if it makes any difference.

I went for the G1 originally before swapping to the EVGA Hybrid when people started discussing noise. After a few more reviews though I swapped back to the G1 and added a noise dampening kit to the order. Card should arrive tomorrow.

I was too much of a coward to go water :p

To anyone who's fitted the EVGA cooler, Does it come with the hex keys to undo the 980 Ti's housing ?

Not sure what size to buy for when I get my AIO.

No it does not.

1.5mm Hex Bit and 2mm Hex Bit. I had a little pack of screwdrivers already that I think I used on the Wii and/or a mobile phone so I was okay. The screws have a bit of Locktite on them so need a bit of pressure at first. Be careful though as I nearly threaded the head of one trying to get it off.
