FTW performance worth the extra £40 over the SC?
If your sticking to aircooling the zotac amp is prob a better buy, only slightly lower guaranteed boost clock than the FTW,has a backplate and is cheaper.
If you want to stick with EVGA,the FTW is still a good buy, over the SC it has a backplate, custom PCB and 100mhz higher guaranteed boost clock. The one i bought a few weeks back boosts to 1430mhz out the box
Phanteks Enthoo Evolv ATX Glass - Black
Pretty bare atm, like I said I'll be putting it all under water in a week or so.
My loop will be kinda based on this, need to make a few mods here and there.
Maybe the power limit is the problem or cooling. Is there a modded bios on overclock.net?
I've been able to get from the default reference 980 ti clocks to 1400/8000. Feel like I'm being held back due to the hardware lock of 1.212v on the Strix. Any one had any better luck?
My RMA came through, was fearing the worst but the GPU Gods had mercy and a replacement G1 arrived that looks like it was almost brand new... until someone dropped it .
It still works fine though and will do 1500+ until it hits ~70c at which point it begins to artefact. G10 and H90 should fix that and the noise
From the looks of things it was held between my RMA papers (folded around) and dropped from a few of feet onto something fairly solid but non-abrasive, puncturing said paper and the antistatic bag.
The force was enough to push one (8mm!) heatpipe and the fin stack connected on that pipe a mm or more, there were many fins squished together which I have managed to straighten some.
The backplate also absorbed some of the blow bending in at that corner, hitting the heatpipe and bending around it, losing some paint as a result.
All this had to occur before shipping to me as there is no damage to the box or packaging that it had; from the looks of things, a fairly cosy safe journey to me in.
I will update the post with pictures of damage when I do the aio on (hopefully) Monday.
