The GTX Titan X owners thread.

People still buying these with the 390x series launch imminent??
Crazy

I originally posted the memory usage pic in response to the above post to demonstrate why people are still buying the cards.

I also think it was a bit silly posting the above comment in the Titan X Owners thread.

But your probably going to get 4 x 8GB 390X's anyway am I right ? :p

I might be joining the TX owners club soon myself if everything works out in the next week or so :)

These would look a lot better with a backplate though.

Yes I will probably be getting some 390Xs as I think they should be great cards and it will be interesting to compare them to the Titan Xs.:)

Previously used to run fine for me on 780 tri-SLI. On dual SLI it was worse but there was a period I remember when it ran fine on 2 cards too.

One of the reasons I like 4 way SLI is that running max settings in games at high resolution will often flatten out the fps compare to a single or 2 way setup where the fps can go from very low to very high.

Another bonus is there is less screen tearing on a 4 way setup.

Having said that one day I will invest in a G-Sync monitor.:D:)

How bizarre. Just get a gsync monitor for christs sake :)

I have to ask, do you actually play any games, or is your hobby just buying ridiculous unnecessary amounts of Pc hardware and benchmarking? Genuine question by the way :)

Yes I do play games but mostly strategy games like Civ5.

I don't like games like GTA V or Watch Dogs but I still own them to see how they run. FC4 for example is a mess on 4 way SLI unless you like pink sky lol.:D

The only thing is that it will be complete overkill on my 144Hz 1080P BenQ as I'm getting a refund on the Swift as I've just had way way too many faults with it.

I'll have to go 1440P shopping in a month or so, Will be funny seeing screaming FPS at 1080P though :p

I'm curious, According to leaks the 390X has 8.6 TFLOPS of compute power, The TX only has 7.0, Does this translate directly to game performance ?

Uber nub question I know but I've never done any research on it.

I hear ya with having problems and if I had what you had, I wouldn't be on a Swift :(

As for the other question, it doesn't work that way in Tflops per game performance. The same as 1300Mhz core on a 290X won't compete with 1300Mhz core on a TX. On a serious note though, with 4096 stream processes and 8GB HBM, I imagine the 390X will fly at 4K and beat the TX, so long as it can hit 1200-1300Mhz but that is just my guesswork.

That's precisely why I might end up holding out for the 390X reviews, I don't want to get the TX in a week only to see the 390X which releases in roughly 6 weeks which will probably be 100-200 pound cheaper and have the same or better performance.

Someone build me a time machine please !!!

Get any TitanX

Flash EVGA SC bios onto it

Add EVGA backplate

All EVGA, sorted.

Well, somehow my scenario:-)
Evga Tx coming today.
Will flash it with SC bios.
Do I need this backplate for a reason or is it only aesthetics thing? I have a closed case so I don't see the card anyway.
Will probably invest in this Evga Hybrid cooling as I do not like too much noise. My current Evga 980 SC is super silent and cool in the same time.
I was thinking about going SLI but finally decided to go for TX. I hope I will not regret sacrificing pure 980 SLI grunt for TX smoothness. I just expect my new Asus Rog Swift and TX to be a match made in heaven:D

I bought the backplate too. I doubt it will have any sort of cooling performance functionality but it looks good. I normally watercool everything but I must be getting old as with this card, I just can't be bothered. Overclocking to silly levels while maintaining good temps seems fine on the standard cooler and even stock bios but I have the SC bios on it anyway.

Was also ready to buy another one or two but there is no game that tasks it at all in my library at the moment.

So annoyed!
I tried to install the evga hybrid cooler onto my titan x.
I couldn't even get the stock fan shroud off cos 2 screws were so tight I ended up stripping them by pushing too hard.
now I can't take the shroud off, so now I have to just put the card back together as it was before.

I tried every trick I could find online to remove those screws but to no avail.

Now I have a cooler that is useless since I can't install it.

Might be a long shot but couldn't you get in contact with EVGA about possibly sending it into them so they can fit it for you as they have wayyyy more tools at hand.
