The Gulf Stream could COLLAPSE as early as 2025

both things we took actual action on
Yup

And at least one of the holes in the ozone layer largely closed up last year from memory, after something like 30 years.

Whilst dealing with acid rain also happened to help preserve a huge amount of our cultural history that is tied up in buildings that it was damaging (as well as anything else).

The gulf stream has always been shifting, it's never been stable just like the earth it self.

It's just scaremongering like the "10ft of snow" or whatever we were meant to have last week

Wasn't that the express or something saying that?

Edit: in fact why are people getting the weather and climate info from newspapers again? The met office is free.

But this usually changes over 100s of years.
Besides, even if it does. You'd think we'd want to mitigate massive upheaval.

People often use the "it happened before"...sure it has. But just because somethings happened before doesn't mean it won't be devastating

Judging by the way people act about this, we’re pretty ******.

Ocean currents collapsing = civilisation as we know it not being the same.

It’s not some joking matter really.
I think I know how to get through to them: if you thought we were getting a lot of immigration recently, wait until population displacement because of climate change really sets in.

They won't be coming to the UK then. It will get very cold and very inhospitable here if this ever happened.

People did stuff that prevented those things from becoming serious issues like banning CFCs and flue gas desulferisation measures.

And China (of course) recently starting producing them again.

You can guarantee anything you put in place to protect the world, China will ignore it.

Cold is one thing but regular deadly 'wet bulb' temperatures in Asia I think will probably trump it.

Yeah. Some of the already hot countries.. That's where it's going to really bite.
Basically, I believe it will effectively reduce the inhabitable area of the world?
Not sure how many places will "improve" but I believe many population centres will seeass emigration

Man it was a really great idea to just outsource manufacturing to a huge dictatorship on the other side of the planet so that we could centre our economy around ******* around with fictional numbers as a 'service economy'.

Either way if the liveable geography changes at all it implies a massive **** show war - if history has taught us much it's that nation states don't really like the UN telling them where it's fairest to draw borders.

This thread so far is a perfect example of why we’re ****** lol.

The gulfs stream along with all other oceans currents drive the entire planets ecosystems and weather systems.

:/

The gulf stream drives warm sea currents from the equator along the eastern seaboard of the United States down the west coast of the UK producing warmer wet temperate weather conditions to the UK.
