Just a little report on our Amoung US VR game last night for those that weren't there.
Yes, you have read the previous posts about the obnoxious kids etc. But, what about the game itself?
First a brief intro to the game. You start the game in the canteen of a spaceship. You have a crew and up to two imposters and you don't know who the imposters are. As an imposter your job is to try and sabotage the ship or stop the rest of the crew from completing their task of getting the ship up and running. Yes, that includes killing them!! If you are a crew member you have to try fix the ship while also working out who the imposter/imposters are. IF you suspect somebody of been an imposter you can call a meeting where you have to try and convince the other players that you know who the imposter is, while the accused player tries to convince you otherwise. Then there is a vote. If the majority vote for the same player, that player is made take a quick spacewalk and is dead. You can also die by been killed by the imposter.
However, been dead is not the end in this game. While dead you can still do tasks if you are a crew member. You can still sabotage things if you are an imposter. All been dead really means is that you can't get involved in meetings and you can't talk.
Ok, there is more to it, but that's the basics. Now onto our game.
Myself, Ravenger and Shi boldly went where no hangout person went before. As intrepid explorers into the unknown, we boarded the spaceship called The Skeld and set out on our journey of discovery. A journey that began with boredom for the first 10-15 minutes while we waited for
@JoeBoi to show up. When he chickened out, we opened the game up to the public, then all hell broke loose!! It was just a barrage of noise, squeaky voices and name calling.
8 players joined in. 2 were picked as imposters, shhhhh, nobody knew who. And the mayhem began. I was one imposter, that's all I was sure of, I wasn't sure what to do or where to go or anything. All I did know was that I could go into vents or when I was near a highlighted area on the map I could click the button on the map and sabotage that section and, finally, that I could kill the crew. So, you can imagine what I decided? Yes, you guessed it, I decided I was going to kill Shi
Sorry Shi!! I hid in the Vent and wait patiently....A ha! my chance arrived, I saw Shi sneaking around one of the rooms and decided to leap out and kill him, but, I hadn't seen the other crew member there. He started yelling about me been the imposter while running towards the canteen to call a meeting.
Damn it!! I had to give up my chance of stabbing Shi in the back and to try and catch that other crew member. I failed. He called a meeting and then proceed to spend the next 60 seconds calling me names. There was a vote, I survived!! hahahahahaha
Back to my mission. I proceeded to follow Shi around for ages, I got close enough to kill him several times, but, nothing was happened. I couldn't understand what was going on. Eventually there was another meeting called and I got voted out and became a ghost.
I went around sabotaging things, while trying to keep tabs on what Ravenger and Shi were doing. After watching for a few minutes I realised Shi wasn't just pretending, he actually had no clue what he was doing!!
I managed to sabotage the reactor while all the crew were at the other end of the ship. Shi was the first guy to make it back to try and fix the problem. But because he didn't know what he was doing, he failed and the imposters won!! YAY Go team imposters!!
Then I find out that SHi was actually the other imposter. He didn't avoid detection by been sneaky or lying or anything like that. He avoided detection by been clueless
That's why I couldn't kill Shi for all that time, imposters can't kill each other. DOH!! Which is when I realised that I am even worse at the game than Shi
Not going to play public again though. It needs a good group. I am also wondering how many times will we actually play it?? There isn't really a lot to do. Once the novelty wears off how likely are we to play it again?
EDIT: I should say that I actually decided I was going to kill either Shi or Ravenger, It was just that Shi walked in front of the Vent I was hiding in first
