I swear Fraps isn't saving screenshots at high quality or something, any other better apps just for taking screens?

Don't be put off by the German, the prog is in English. It works nicely

its not fraps as it saves it in bmp. which is a good format for keeping quality, but the files are very large. its usually the compression to jpeg where it loses so much quality.

You can vary the compression ratio used in the jpeg format. Something like mspaint does it very badly, paint shop pro I think can be had as shareware and that allows it to be varied manually as well as doing any actual resize much better

Pff looking at this thread makes me realize how much I'm missing, I haven't bought new pc games for ages now and didn't think so many good games were there.

Armed assault, tomb raider, Dirt, CoJ, all look superb.

Odd btw that dirt, it doesn't look much better at all than on my 6800GS on medium settings all, 4x aa, but shadows on low and motion blur disabled, the demo I have almost look as good as that full game maxed .

Damn can't wait for my 6800gs to be replaced with an 8800GTS, so i can give TDU a go with HDR, and @ higher reso's and framerates than 25fps and 1024x768, and with supersampling 8x instead of 4x and multisample.

@ Streeteh : Why does in the last pic the game look so bad? I'm getting a lot less jaggies in TDU on my 6800GS with 4x aa and multisampling @ 1024x768 than you're getting on that pic, surley a 7800 shoulld allow for supersampling and at least 4x AA?

Stalker I got bored myself but willing to give it another go.

Great thread keep it up people , keep posting proper size pics of games, you re helping people to decide wich game to buy, the 800x600 thread makes games look awfull.
