And I get around 25-50fps.
There are bugs which limit performance though which will hopefully be patched soon!

I set ARMA 1's draw distance to 10,000 metres (highest possible) on very high settings 1920x1200 and it plays fine now

Is it something to do with every graphics card murdering game that they have to have a Sykes in them? Crysis did it, and judging by the 8th ArmAII screenie down it's doing the same!!!

Does the game tear down peoples system if they slap every slider to the top, or select the highest preset ? I tried the Arma 1 demo, and if i just choose the highest preset, the game is a smooth as butter no nonsense 60 FPS all the time. If i put all the sliders up it gets real choppy. Is this the case with this one ? Im happy using the highest preset really.

I remember the Doom 3 alpha that leaked very early, IIRC I had a Radeon 8500 at the time and used to get 5-10fps
