The High-Res Screenshot Thread!

I like both Pc and consoles(except the Wii - I can't stand any form of motion control, and that includes Kinect and Move)but must express my huge disappointment in the setting for Crysis 2. I mean, Nyc has been done to death in games. If they have to change the setting at least site it somewhere more original. I also prefer the Jungle setting outright anyway. Sometimes you feel like the predator walking around in your stealth super suit. Couldn't they have set the sequel in an Alpine Forest if they wanted to change the scenery slightly? If the consoles couldn't cope with the huge draw distances involved then just keep it a PC exclusive.

^ Agree totally, I'm also dissapointed with the move to an urban setting (done purely so that consoles can handle it). I was playing earlier today and thought, "why has there not been a predator mod for this?!", because running around the jungle preying on people feels awesome. I fear the urban setting will just make it feel closer to any other shooter on the market, and agree that moving to an alpine forest would be great. There have been some clips of alpine forests in crysis 2, but I think they are very very small parts of the game.

Owned...double a*s shot )))

Angela,

What's the game like, just had a quick look and looks quite good. How much actual sniping is there?

Thanks

It is quite short 4-6 hours, but good, nice graphics.
as to sniping, depends of your weapon taste, snipe with you all the time, I used 80% sniper weapon,..

Honestly I think these look worse than non-modded Crysis :D

At least the better foliage textures ARE better :p

They seem to emulate modern day movie cinematics rather than real life. Almost everyone one of these mods seems to do two things:

1) Increase light blooming and contrast greatly (killing colour accuracy and range in the process).

2) Add massive amounts of depth of field blurring (completely unrealistic).

The end result is actually a decrease in graphical complexity, but an increase in perceived realism. The vast majority of newer console titles use this idea to make seemingly great looking games without huge hardware requirements.

I saw in the original Cryengine 3 demo an Alpine Forest and thought great, that's a real cool setting for Crysis 2. I also saw a city and thought it looked just like any other shooter and hoped they wouldn't bother with that. Guess which one they went with : -(

I love all my consoles, and they all have their own advantages and many superb console only games, but can't help feeling too many compromises have been made with Crysis 2 to make it playable on consoles.
I will still get it, and may well be pleasantly surprized, but I cant help feeling I'm going to be hugely dissapointed considering the awesomeness of the game/s(Crysis and Warhead) that has come before.

Seriously, you are joking right?

Nope. The OTT lighting looks ridiculous and REALLY unreaslistic - sure unrealistic is good (eg unnecessary lens flare and exagerrated water physics) but only to a certain extent.
Personally I think that the mdoes displayed have crossed that line :p

EDIT: I was referring to the first 8 of the Crysis pics on this page :)

The foliage with small leaves on Crysis was always god awful anyway :D

Sorry to disagree, but Realifesis looks awesome. I found the added lighting to actually be more subtle than Vanilla Crysis with its over the top Sunshafts and Bloom when looking out of a building at the outside - not that I don't like those effects and even if you prefer the look of the standard game, there's no denying Realifesis looks far more photorealistic. The beach might be bright, but its a sunny day on a tropical island so of course there will be plenty of light.

I agree about the standard foliage though, it was always a little low res which the hi def foliage pack will fix. Even if you prefer the look of Vanilla Crysis I would still recommend this texture pack.

This is waht I completely agree with.

Yeah, I really gotta start playing Stalker again. Might try some of the graphic mods that have come out too if anyone can recommend some?

the best stalker mods imho is the complete version i don't know if COP complete is out yet it wasn't when i played through a while back but it's well worth the wait as the others didn't have the same quility feel :)

If I was to try a Stalker mod for the first time then I'd opt for the 'Complete 2009 mod' by Pavel.

@razer1978 - no, COP Complete isn't ready yet, though it should be quite soon. Pavel was hoping to have it ready by the end of 2010.
