Space sims is the one genre I haven't sunk my teeth into yet, well, at least since playing Elite many moons ago.

Space based sim and strategy is in a league of it's own, at least for me. I can't get enough of the sense of peace all around and then seeing it destroyed in the most emphatic fashion possible.

I take it it you missed out on the excellent homeworld series? I in fact replayed homeworld 2 quite recently and it still played and looked as good as ever.

Yes, I did miss out on that. Still worth getting?

I like your comment about the 'sense of peace', something that appeals to me...being lost in the void of space with just my thoughts...and a blaster.

Yes I would definitely recommend Homeworld 2, just be sure to check out the few compatibility tweaks, such as you'll need to use the -noVBO switch within the 'target' field of a game shortcut. Does work fine in the end, though. And thanks
