Steam has a screenshot button for a start.

Also programs such as Fraps and Afterbuner do.

I wouldn't bother trying to tag civilians, just go for the aliens, quicker you kill, sooner the mission is over and you save them all.

I had a few mods on it, high res texture pack,realistic water, flora reloaded e.t.c

i started having some graphical flickering so am currently doing a fresh install to see if mods were causing it
