I think it's either Escape from Butcher Bay or Dark Athena. One of the Riddick games anyway.

Fallout 4 - Nvidia Vault 1080 Mod

4K max everything resized to 1920x1080. This is the free Nvidia Vault 1080 mod which adds mega god rays & HBAO+ lighting.

^^ I've installed that mod, but I can't see any difference. It says to verify that the godrays are turned on in the launcher (game launcher?).

Do I have to travel to the new area for the godrays to take effect?

Yeah make sure everything is maxxed out in the Fallout4 launcher also I think its Nvidia GPU's only & you also need to ensure you have HBAO+ enabled in the launcher as well as Ultra on everything which can be turned to Ultra as a few do not get picked up if you hit the preselect config button for Ultra you have to manually look at each setting.

Also these extreme godrays are only in the new area in other areas of the game it looks similar but not quite as extreme so yep travel to the new area!!

Riddick Game

When I've tried to play this a couple of times over the past seven years or so it immediately tries to set fire to my CPU and the fan spins up to max (even though I get fine frames per second). Does it still do that?

The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena.

I can a see why some want to wait to buy this as a standalone but to be fair to Activision they have put some effort into making this look a little more modern!
