I concur. I am a fan of retro PES myself, but PES2021 is simply better in every way. PES2022 was a massive downgrade though, don't know about 23 and so on.

For me the main thing about retro PES (PES6 and below) is the precision of the animations. Modern PES is loaded with motion capture animations and many animations cannot be canceled once initiated, plus many animations are random and we have little or no control over them. THis applies to PES2021 btw, but I still preferer it as its animations also give more options - like the shimmy above.
Looked at that, the output wasn't very good imo. I spent an hour so looking around and I don't think there is a good way of doing it. There is a photoshop plugin so you can tweak the picture a bit to match the HDR shot but that's the closest I can see. Seen plenty of people saying AVIF is better too... wish HDR stuff was standardised.
