** The HomeKit Thread **

Haha, mostly for the news stories based on an IKEA manual or post that was just a bit early :) nice to get additional confirmation & know that it's very close now

Yeah, hopefully not to much longer. I really hope they expand their range even further with some RGB LED strip lights. Would love to see a cheaper alternative than the Philips Hue.

LightwaveRF have finally announced it's Generation 2 products which include support for HomeKit - https://www.lightwaverf.com/generation-2/ available from 3rd October.

The range includes Light Switches, Power Sockets and Radiator Valves. The products feature Energy Monitoring, Wire-free 2 Way Switching and 2-Way Communication.

This is the one range I've personally been waiting a long time for and will seriously be considering investing in.

I considered installing Lightwave products during renovation works almost three years ago and glad I waited as by the looks of things their current range of switches and sockets won't be backwards compatible with HomeKit but their existing radiator valves will be. .

I love LightwaveRF stuff, I had a few sockets and switches but my GF (and me to some extent) didn't like the brightness of the LEDs on both. They were too bright so were no good for bedrooms.

IKEA tradfri RGB on their way, some guy in Germany just bought one off the shelves in store :)

Nice development! If they bring out RGB light strips then I may pick up a few packs in the future.

they did, i'm all homekitted up wrt. to my lights now :)

Easy enough to setup, does it work well? I've noticed an improvement in speed and response with my Elgato devices under iOS 11 and thats before they release firmware updates.

If Ikea release a Tradfri RGB lightstrip then I'll be looking to pick one up.

works fine. time to function is much shorter than before, I just need to raise my wrist and speak to my watch rather than wonder where my phone is, unlock it and open the app then realise my glasses are upstairs and pray I get the right scene :D

it's not without irritations though, i now have scenes that only switch on 2 of the 6 lights in the living room, for example. Makes the physical switch irritating to use to switch them all off.
