The "I am finally going to finish that damn game" thread

Bioshock and STALKER are the main too. But they are boring after a while, so I'll probably never get round to it.

LOL, I just borrowed a PSOne and FF7 of my mate to finaly complete that game, im not even out of Midgard yet.

Me and my mate had a go on this a couple of weeks back, we managed to clock up a good few days before work got in the way. Still an amazing game might wiggle a few days work off next week and finnish it.

Well, like many people, I have these games sitting here on the shelf that I just never got round to finishing.

It's not always that I didn't like the game. Sometimes I would have had to re-install windows, or something else might have happened, and the could not be bothered to re-start.

Keep buying new games, but never get round to just playing through some of those oldies.

So, starting tonight I am going to start by retrying Doom 3. I got bloody far in the game. Can't have had more than couple of hours left. Wish me luck.

This thread is actually kind of a challenge to others though, to pick up those old games they just never got round to finishing, giving it hteir best, and letting everyone know how they get on :)

Anyone up for it?

been thinking the same thing the last few weeks, will start later on 'Just Cause' although I hear the last island/level is a pain in the ass to finish, these are other games im yet to complete:

Far Cry
Doom 3
SOF Payback
SOF2!
Vietcong
Vietcong 2
The Club
GTA SA
R6 Vegas
R6 Vegas 2

probably are others but cant remember the names atm:o

Omikron: The Nomad Soul - got damn far then reinstalled Windows ME (at the time) and lost all the saves.

Metal Gear Solid 2 - Not got out of the first few rooms on this without getting bored - I'm sure it gets much better later on as well.

Illusion Of Time (SNES) - Got pretty far in this (sort of a Zelda clone) but never completed.

I think thats enough for now.

I think I just have too many games...I tend to start playing something new before ive finished the old ones  but once in a while I make an effort to finish one of the old ones. This is a list of ones im currently working on on the PC in order of preference:

Mass Effect
Bioshock
HL2:EP1
HL2:EP2 (Cant start this till ive finished EP1)
World in Conflict
Oblivion

There are others but these are ones i want to finish. Not enogh time especially with a PS3 too :( I think i need a career break or maybe a gaming break haha

Cheers,
Hugest

Crysis got till u have to save the team mate from freazing and aliens atacking you. then reformated my hardrive and never bothered to play again.

should i?

bioshock played 40 min of it good game but i play in game sensativity at 1 in game is ok but when hacking a device the sensativity goes really slow not like in game and always had to swap from one to two and back again ?

should i try and finish it ?

Hell Gate London. played for a day uninstaled it tried to install it and log in but it says wrong password or username does not let me use a cd-key anymore failed game anyway.

Assassin's Creed played it for 2 days not full screen good visuals and graphics
but you have to do the same and the same thing again.

i think thats all for now

Mass Effect
Bioshock
Super Mario Galaxy
Stalker
GTA4

I have a strange habit of getting quite far into games then losing interest when I've not been able to play them for a few days, except Stalker which I played for about 2 hours and just didn't have a clue what was going on or where I was supposed to go.

I tend to hoarde old savegames, so I've come back to quite a few games in the past:

Halflife: Started in 1999, got stuck on the 'On a Rail' level. Finished it in 2003
Unreal 2: Started early 2003, got stuck on this level where you start in the desert with very little ammo. Completed October 2007
GTA:SA: Started summer 2005, got kinda stuckish/bored, tried reinstalling later but disk wouldn't work, bought a new copy to find savegames not compatibile! Finally got tipped off this year on how to reverse-patch and completed it a few months ago.

The funny thing is, when I came back to them later on all these games didn't seem that hard at all in the places I was stuck! Sometimes I think going away from a game for a few months/years can help you get past such areas.

As for games I'd like to go back to an finish:

GTA3: My latest savegame is dated 31/07/2002, I think I'm about midway through the second island. I seem to remember there were only really tricky/annoying missions available, one of the big flaws in GTA3 compared to VC/SA imo is the lack of guidance on some missions, and relatively poor interconnectivity in terms of city design.
Splinter Cell: got stuck at the beginning of the 3rd(?) level. Not really my style of game but it's got rave reviews.
NFS:HP2: The only NFS game I haven't beaten from 5 (Porsche 2000) onwards, I know I'm really far into the game but just couldn't do some of the races. Along with GTA3 I think this is the one I'm most likely to go back to, as I was really enjoying the game and as said above maybe it will seem easier now.

FWIW I do try and complete quite a lot of games and have done 85 since late 2003 according to my list.

I've also got a few games still installed that have been 'dormant' for a while: NOLF, STALKER, CoJ and X3

Breaking News!!!

I am finally on the last chapter of The Longest Journey!!! pics when i finish later today thank god.

(i had to finish one game out of 4 i am currently playing so i can get space to install.. FALLOUT collection as im playing fallout 1 + 2 before playing fallout 3 later this year :D )

GTA Vice City & San Andreas

But it is one of those games that although it doesnt look great I can still happilly spend an afternoon on it as the gameplay is still streets ahead of many modern releases.
I do hope to finally finish it them this year though

Finished Crysis couple of weeks ago have returned to Bioshock now and i think i am not far from the end now. Thats it then nothing else to do have got FEAR perseus mandate somewhere but that is poor, very poor :(

FFX

The first time around I got the start of the final Sin stage (70+ hours playtime), and my sister-in-law accidentally cleared the entire memory card :(

I'm in the Via Purifico at the mo :D

ive stopped playing The Witcher (act 3) until the Enhanced edition comes out. (free download patch) eta September :)

Soldier of Fortune: Payback!

I said I'd finish it if only to justify owning and actually installing it. The trouble is though, it's that crap I gave up on it during the jungle levels.

you got to the jungle levels!!!!! Im amazed I through it in the bin after 30 seconds play. I miss sof2 so much, why can they make a decent sof3? Whats wrong eith the franchise?

Seriously it has everything, ak-47's, terrorists, and lots of bloody.....

I still need to play these:

uncharted
GTA4
Ass Creed
DMC4
Vegas 2
Burnout Paradise
Metriod Prime
ZELDA Twilioght Princes
Res evil 4
Super Mario Galaxy
Mass Effect
STALKER

EDIT: and forgot about MGS4

All still either unopened or need to finish off, think I need a new hobby lol..... and stop buying games until I complete all of these.
