Hey guys getting like a kid at christmas just ordered my new i7 build consisting of

- i7 920
- Gigabyte UD4P
- 3x2gb corsair pc10666
- Gainward 280GTX
- corsair 650w psu
- Maxtor 500gb hd
- Antec 300 case

Pics and analysis will follow after build

looking forward to getting my hands on the UD4P especially

can't believe how big that 280GTX is, am starting to worry about room in my Antec300 lol

price + i'm going to be gaming at 1680x1050 and so GTX280 is going to be overkill, i got all of the above for £950

All the anti 4870 comments are a bit odd, its an excellent card.

Looks like a good spec there - especially at that price, I am envious.

agreed the 4870 is costing me £219inc vat, a 280GTX would be an extra £80+

Nice spec. But i'd have to agree a touch with the GTX comment above. The Gainward GTX is selling @ £241.49inc vat at the moment.

That said @ your monitors res the 4870 will be more than capable! :cool:

Have fun... wish i could afford an i7 rig... it'll fly!!!!!

Stroke of luck, the ATi i had ordered is now out of stock (along with a couple of other items) so i've ordered the Gainward 280GTX off ocuk

should be here tomorow.

Spec is now -

-Antec 300
-i7 920
-Gigabyte UD4P
-Gainward 280GTX
-3x2gb Corsair
-Corsair 750w psu
-Maxtor 500gb hd

Total is now just under 1K

yep yep, thought I would take your advice I prefer the Nv control panel too

just a case of putting a mild clock on the 920 and then i'll be set for a while to come.

Much worse than nvidia's cards in games like GTA IV (afaik), no forcing AA in UE3 games, no physx support, poor overall control panel with little options like negative lod bias clamp and other options that increase IQ...

Nvidia's control panel is ass compared to the CCC.

Secondly, ATi don't need cheap hacks to get IQ, you get IQ out of the tin.

Thanks, just checked my order history and it appears that there is a problem with DHL and overclockers, meaning the case+operating system I ordered on tuesday isn't going to be here till tomorow

(Nice next day delivery!!!) Yet I order a gfx card,psu,dvdrw drive yesterday and that has arrived again from overclockers.
Can't understand the delay on the case+os as it's both in stock status just says in warehouse que!

What hacks?
I don't know as I only go by user experience of this one guy, but in all his pics he has a lot of shimmering and can't get rid of it, he can't enable AA in Mass Effect, etc... Also pics of ati CCC looked way too basic...

Comes down to personal preference more than anything.

Like you i like the NV panel layout better and had far fewer problems compared to ATi.

However, to contrast this there are thousands of very happy ATi users so it must work well sometimes.

@ harris1986 - sorry some of your kit got held up.

Haha I know, I have sent a webnote not in complaint more in curiosity, as I say just don't understand how 2 items that are in stock which I ordered on Tues haven't been delivered, yet items I ordered yesterday have.
Can't wait for my Case+Vista to arrive so I can put the build together, the UD4P looks sweeeeeet will put some pics up of parts tonight
