The i7 build has been ordered :D eta 08/01/09

I've been looking at getting a similar setup only using Asus P6T instead along with 650w Be quiet dark pro PSU will that be enough to power that system or should I look at something with a bit more power??

The reason I went for the Gigabyte line over a p6t is 1) it's cheaper 2) imo the boards have a lot more quality to the feel 3) the bios is better laid out 4) there have been reports of cold boot and bios reset issues on the P6T.

my rig's now built and running like a dream clocked to 3ghz on 1.15v prime stable with turbo and HT on :)

I see what you mean about how little space there is with the graphics card in there.

is that the stock fan on the CPU?? i would say you invest in a better cooler, the only use the Intel stock fans have, is as a paper weight.

As i said, ive had my Asus for weeks now and no issues what so ever.

looking at that picture im also very glad i went for teh Anetc 1200, looks like you would have had to be very careful squeezing in that 280!

EDIT: i notice you put your PSU upside down, i have the same but its not, its fitted it the right way up... hmm.. im intrugued as to what the best way would be now.

looks very nice, I just wish I had ordered mine the other week before the prices of everything went up and you could find a cheap GTX280

well with the antec300 it only mounts upside as the screw holes are the wrong way for normal oreintation.

Kelitik it's the stock fan but at 3ghz temps are 58 58 60 60 full load after a hours prime :) so fairly happy with that for the time being.

ahh, im was just wondering about air circulation, the fan intake is practically against the floor when the right way up.

thats not bad, my i7 runs a chilly 35-40 degrees. I just mentioned it because everyone ive spoken to always wonders why Intel make the worst fans, i cant actually remember the last time i used one though.

Definately the stock cooler isn't a long term option just one to give me a mild clock and good temps until some decent coolers start coming out and i have the money to spend :D

Probably best waiting until there is a decent selection of HSF for the i7 as there seems to be very few atm, and they are all quite expensive.
