Needs to be more mainstream before I upgrade, prices are just to high atm.

C2D will do me just fine for the time being, quite tempted to get a
Intel Core 2 Quad 9650 to play with.

Thing is, putting these cpus & motherboards up on the website to create some hype has backfired badly to be honest,

1) People have seen they are over priced
2) They are not much quicker then current offerings
3) its cemented people more on the core2 cpus for time being

just to name a new reasons.
 
While i don't doubt the idea of putting them up was to hype it in time for sale it is a win win for OcUK. Many of us are not won over by the new chips but will probably upgrade to C2D\Q clearing stock from their warehouse while some people as we have seen will jump at this thus clearing what stock they will have when they can sell them. Cynical definately and designed to promote both lines that they sell meaning continuing if not increased sales. Only fly in the ointment may come IF Amd are able to bring out a chip that equals or beats current C2 chips and is cheaper still.

Tis always been my issue past 3 years I know I can leap onto the Corei7 but in 6-12 months time the whole rigg that cost 2k will be just a weasley 1k worth.....

Tis why am intrigued if the Core i7 has that safe 266mhz overclock feature, and if the 2.66ghz can at least match a 3ghz yorkfield as the rumours/info suggest !

Buying a 775 system would just eat me alive knowing that a Corei7 is out there....

Your best to stick with what you have, since you already have Core2. Me on the other hand, im upgrading from an old slow as hell pentium 4 3.2GHz socket 478, so Corei7 should be a worthwhile upgrade for me.

Why aren’t they on the site anymore? I'm really puzzled as what to do. I will have around £2400 to spend come Crimbo and I currently don’t have a system. I may end up waiting even longer but I've had enough because I've already waited a year for Nehalem but it looks a major disappointment to me.

Think I'll stick with my Samsung Series 6 40" HDTV and PS3 for now...

They broke the NDA.... so got there wrist slapped and its taken off the website.

Only another 2 more weeks for Corei7 everything so best to wait and see.
