The I'm getting bored of BF3 thread

Still playing here, but not over-playing if that makes sense.

To the BF2 lovers, could it just be that you were at a stage in your life (and gaming life) where it was the "right time" for a game like BF2 to dominate?

It's not that I'm (maybe others) a BF2 lover, it's just the things BF2 did that BF3 did in a watered down way, lots of little bits of polish and features that seem small but when you add them up they really improve the experience.

I've not played it for a few months, way too many other games taking up my time at the moment but at some point I would like to try and get back into it. I never got into it as much as I was expecting to when I was playing it tho.

I had been looking forward to this for ages, had a nightmre installing and connecting , when it worked it was ok, but nowhere near what i was hoping for. It was over hyped and not helped by people who wont hear a bad word against it, maybe thats part of the reason EA can get away with releasing unfinished garbage to the paying public. Its the last time i pre-order a game. I thought this gane could help relight my fire for online mp games, instead its put me off.
Down the pan and flushed.

Great game but doesn't feel like Battlefield to me for some reason, I don't know if it's the maps or the combat. Still play a few rounds every other day but I'm getting sick of hackers.

Give us BF2142 with this engine, maybe an addon as that was the most balanced version in the series and probably the most fun.

I enjoyed it a fair bit to start with, but the lack of teamplay and terrible camping was annoying. Haven't been able to get it to run for the past couple of months anyway.

I played it like a maniac for the first month and clocked up 70 hours on it. Then I just got bored of it all of a sudden and stopped. Went back to it when Karkand was released but by that time I was so rusty and crap (didn't know the maps at all) that I just didn't enjoy it. Couldn't be bothered any more, especially as I really got into Portal 2, and now to a lesser extent L.A. Noire. Maybe I am just getting old, but there is something to be said for more slow-paced games...

Tried it and went back to BF2. On BF2 I only play on modded servers though. BF2 on unmodded servers is nothing more then a grenade fest.

Yeah have to agree here, there seems something missing i can't put my finger on it.

BF2 seemed a lot more fun, but now it seems there is no team play and all for 1.

like other people some days i crave FPS where others i dont.

The market has changed a lot since then but for what its worth, I think in BF3 more than any other game I have played, having a good squad and teamwork are transformative - and can make the battles epic when 2 good teams duke it out. Pubs can be too random and that is an issue with long-term enjoyment.

Still playing, got over the boredom - really depends on the server you are playing I find. If you are having a rubbish game, QUIT! Then find a well-balanced Server - makes all the difference :)

I've not had internets for two months at home and not missed it, I think I prefer the single player experiance these days, online just seems washed out and I get the feeling I'm surrounded by morons all to often much like in day to day life, I dont reminding of that when I'm trying to chill out at home

Might install BC2 again, I was seriously addicted and only unistalled it because of high expections for BF3

I played it for about a week after release. I am not sure I actually had any fun in the game, just spent a week moaning about how COD killed the genre. I did play again for a few hours after back to karkand was released (hoping that larger maps would improve the game) but just didn’t enjoy it at all.

I think it’s a combination of Dice trying to imitate aspects of COD, basing the game on modern technology and modifying the franchise so heavily in favour of the console market.

Hence the reason I never bought it, BF3 is too similar to COD than it is to BF2.
I played 1942 for a while BF2 for years 2142 for a couple of years as well but BC2 was complete tosh and unfortunately from what i've seen and played on the beta as well, BF3 is just a mish mash of BC2 and elements taken from COD.

The beauty of the earlier games was the solid tactical aspect that would win the day, Most of that has been removed and so you're left with a nother version of COD. DICE unfortunately missed the trick on this release which unfortunately after reading this interview, that interview etc seemed to be obvious, no commander mode etc. Yes commander mode was something ruined by some idiot who couldn;t command but when someone decent was commanding it could change the outcome of the game.

Dice should really look at the fact that BF2 servers are still up and running and recently getting more players again. If you have a winning platform for a game you keep the spine of it and tart it up not change the aspects of the game that people played it for.

I shudder to think that people are saying BC2 is better than this? From what I heard and saw from the old 1942/BF2/2142 crowd BC2 was for me and lots of these chaps complete and utter junk?

Shame really.

Can't say I have enjoyed a battlefield game for ages, the last I really enjoyed playing heavily was BF1942 with DC mod, was never off that.

Played BF2 for a bit but soon grew tired of it same with the 2 latest maybe had 5 hours play each.

I'm still playing it because I want to give it a chance but somehow BC2 just felt less cluttered and more enjoyable.

Ultimately I'm probably gonna go back to it.

I know they took a lot of stuff out of the BF formula to make BC2 but I'm now not sure any of it was that big a loss.

They've also managed to miss lots of neat tricks from BC2 in BF3. Sadface.

It's weird because in theory BF3 is the game I've been waiting years for. It's a bit tactical, a bit action, deep and broad gameplay and yet somehow actually playing it is less fun than BC2 was. Odd.

I gotta say, the poor FPS, long load times and horrible clunky interface to actually get into a game don't help

I spent years of my life on DC and never got bored of it, still play the odd game every week. Best Modern Warfare MOD ever.
