The Jaffacake- An Antec Striker MATX Build

First post parts list been all updated having managed to pick up a 6900xt today! With that I have received the 4TB M.2 drive (very good price and brand new/sealed unit). I do want to buy two custom heatsinks for the drives to give it a different look and to make them match as both will be visible due to the riser cable. Other than that the 2nd RAD is installed, the fans installed. A waterblock for the 6900xt is on it's way. That means I can get on with bending some tubes hopefully this weekend for the proper runs and positions then. I need to flush the rads with the Mayhem kit I have. There will be picture updates tomorrow in hi-res to give a proper update as lots of text here without any real context.

Promised images. Ignore tubes lol. They are floating about till GPU arrives and block is here. But yeah all the orange goodness :D

Everything wired up just to see where at but still needs to go off for getting cables done.

Black and orange really work well together.
Glad you decided on that combo.

Keep up the great work, looking sweet. :)

Cheers bud. Yeah I'm pleased with the colour combination in end. Any bold colour I think could work with the black tbh.

Whatever your fav is tbh as long as it's bold. British racing green was tempting for something way different and then going black tubing instead.

Maybe in a future update.

So the 6900xt has arrived so a few quick photos up of it. Just slides in until can get waterblock and of course the cabling a bit naff at moment till that done. But hope you al llike.

Coming along great, orange and black reminds me a bit of Jaffa cakes (that's a good thing haha). The orange really pops.

Glad to see your 6900xt arrived, guess you cant wait to get a waterblock for it though to keep building, plus the red really clashes with the orange.

Very jealous you managed to source those Lian Li Fans, this seems to be the main thing holding up my orders right now.

Edit: Nvm, missed your "ignore the tubes for now"

Thank you. The orange is great although looks a little dark in some these photos cause lack of natural light at time. Will try and get a few in the day to do comparison.

Yeah mate has block for me as he ordered one for me and one for him to save shipping from EK so just need to collect or get it delivered. Indeed it clashes bad but actually in real life is a lovely looking block if you got a coloured build to go with and very highly made.

Tested it on mates PC that has cyberpunk and got to 70c but pretty much silent with fans at 1300-1450rpm. No sag either considering its size. It's actually really skinny and was smaller than the 1070 he has in width and length, just thicker.

It took me three months to source them bud. Was a pain but so so worth it. I can't imagine needing to cable every fan for lighting and keeping it clean. The controller has one too many cables in my view with it for some reason not being able to use the USB header it needs for software to also power it. But minor detail. The fans themselves are really well made and look excellent.

Haha no worries on tubes. A lot of text to read in these posts that was first attempt at a bend ever, it needs redoing regardless as it's got three little bubbles in bottom of bend and I didn't install properly.

The reason for the link in top though at moment is because would need to use a lot of spacers to pull out the connector on rad to align to the reservoir or do a couple 90degree but at moment I'm playing more with angles to give it some visuals. Pleased to hear you think front one looks great. I'm actually pretty happy with that one with second attempt. It's exact shape/location depends on waterblock so hard to know how will end up at mo but I'm pretty sure I'm going to go through plenty of tube to get it right.

Yeah I'm perfectly willing to put my build on hold for them, but didn't want to order them via a big auction site at horrendous markup. The concept of less cables definitely has me sold. And on top they look great.

Yup the factory block of the new radeons is pretty neat and seems like quality what I have seen from photos and reviews.

Ah I see now, the rad connector is on a plane behind the Res, yeah deffo would recommend to try and measure the difference / distance, and then put an extender on the rad to make it align as close as poasible. Then you can do one nice and simple 90 degree in the actual tube. If you want to keep the character / visuals of slightly more angles, experimenting with a couple 45 degree fittings might be worth it too if you can get them to align. Anyways, lots of options to make it look good, and sounds like you already have a few ideas in mind.

Replied in other thread to your build :) am indeed still looking at option for the bending. Hoping I get some time in the evenings this week. I have also started my desk layout so that is a bonus, sorry bad picture. Awful phone cam and no natural light late last night lol

And as can see, am using the old PC tat on floor at moment. Mate has confirmed I can borrow a 3900x so hoping that comes this week to get it going.

Nice, I like how you are making the most of the relatively limited desk space. A properly mounted monitor just looks so much better and adds a lot of real estate. The new build will be a great center piece for your setup!

Thanks :) and indeed, lack of room in this little 2 bed home for anything more but works alright and much better than my previous set. The monitor cables need to be poked through the wall, then across the cable tray under desk and back up to the PC in corner once all done. And thank you :) Need to redecorate the room as well. It all colour/wallpaper from the ex misses ha.

Nice looking build. Just a quick question if you can help?, The PCI extender you have is it gen 4. Reason I ask is I am planning a build and I want a vertical GPU but with SAM being a feuture of X570 boards with this gen ryzens allong with the 6XXX series cards surely its a potential performance hit using a gen 3 riser cable.

Cheers :) and currently no. The one that came with the case is pcie 3 but I don't believe there will be a huge hit. I will upgrade to a pcie4 riser cable which will be easy enough to switch out but at £85 ish for a cable I can't see the need currently. Cards are not saturating pcie 3.0 and it is clear SAM doesn't need pcie 4.0. At the moment though yeah, there is a linkup cable that looks like best option.

Incredible how slim the card looks, very sleek. There is something about a block thats just all black.

From the other thread, re: coolant, yeah I am sure you'll be fine, just will require some regular maintenance I guess. Solid is something I personally wanted to avoid, but even with that, worst case you have to do some cleaning every now and then, just keep an eye on it. And the orange will look ace in this.

Do you have most your parts delivered now to put it all together or still waiting on some stuff?

PS: Also, nice name change :)

Cheers buddy and yeah it mental :) I do need to cut the bottom bracket downa little cause it looks odd. And yeah coolant wise I am happy with 12 months stripping and cleaning etc tbh :) All parts apart from the backplate for card which got dispatched today is here but means tomorrow I have all day to play about with bending tubes and flushing rads properly etc.

And thanks ;)

Small update. She is built and running, there was some teething issues for a few days with it and it not showing display but seems to be a fast boot/windows install issue and been fine for the last week since both disabling that and re-install windows again. Bios flash was easy enough though once realising the USB first used even though in correct format wasn't working ha. For now tubing pretty similar to what was shown but that is cause wanted to get it up and running and tested.

I have edited first post and marked text as NEW with a little info but in short still got cables and a panel to make to hide the riser cable. Also talking to friend @pete910 I am looking to modify the base of the case so I can slip the power supply through the bottom and gain enough depth to possibly fit a full ATX motherboard in there! would be interesting to try more than anything. I have about a 4.5cm gap to current SF power supply so need to find about 2cm to give clearance as then. Will do a mock-up next weekend to see. If it fits I will be upgrading to the Gigabyte X570 Master which gives me a few things, dual bios with switch, 2.5g ethernet support, better VRM's, another M.2 slot and most importantly the ability to change over to a monoblock for CPU/Mobo which would really set it off since can't get one for this board to fit. Plus may well go chipset block too but that depends on space to get tubing runs in with the small space.
