If the above is accurate, that's beyond cheap tactics. Better TIM and a 100mhz speed boost which could have been offered anyway. Terrible rehash re-release.

It seems the i5 may get hyperthreading as well, those poor new i5 owners :o

I don't know what's more stupid, The rumour or Intel if they did that. Mind you they may need to do something like that to remain ahead but if so what will then place the i7 above the i5?

I imagine a lot of Kabylake's newest owners are a bit miffed at this Kabylake refresh happening so quickly, after all that's all Kabylake was really. Skylake to Kabylake is just like Haswell was to the Haswell refresh.

A higher clock, the TIM and more cache if it's true I think.

Just upgraded yesterday from Ivybridge to 7700k. Excellent CPU. I cant get temps to go higher than 63C under IBT on air compared to 85C on Ivy @ 4.2Ghz. Lots of room for overclocking but I'm happy with 4.5Ghz for now. RAM is 32GB at 3200 CL18. Maximus Formula mobo. GTX1080.

Firestrike 18969 on a test run without any tinkering at all.

Managed a 5.3ghz (with manual 1.440v) HWBot Prime last night, but XTU caused a BSOD. Will have to see if I can get some more benches in with a higher vcore this evening.

Seems to be alright with 1.330v for 5.1ghz though which I'm very pleased with. But I still might delid once OcUK get the new tool in.
