The Last Remnant- any good

well ive ordered it on steam ( a bit pricey but who cares:D ) and now im just waiting for it to dl. quick question should i play it with my xbox360 controller cause i expect it would be better?

Im finding that some story line boss fights are retardedly hard (eg. wipes 3/4 unions in 1 attack) and all comes down to luck of getting summons to take the extra damage in the first round. So expect hours of reloading saves.

Nearly finished the game and its been good.

I know what you mean with the boss fights, but there's generally a way somewhere.

What I have noticed (actually, a friend who is playing it did after we'd discussed getting past one particular boss battle) is that the ability of creatures and bosses level up depending upon your battle rank.

I was at 40-something, my friend at 20-odd on the same fight, and I was getting some insane attacks launched at me that didn't happen to him.

Still, it's nothing like Oblivion where my save went so far out of whack that my fighter couldn't hold his own against a single slaughterfish, as they'd leveled up by that much.

You really aren't that far in then. There's more content off the main story path than any FF game. It's bonkers. Then you go back and talk to people in places you've been to before, and something else opens up.

I just meant like in the cities, there hasn't been the open space yet and you have to wait whilst it loads more often. Thats good to know as I spent about 126 hours on FF12 and around 2/3 of that was off the story doing the marks and that.

I really want to get it but £29.99 is a bit steep :(

I bought it last weekend for £19.99 on the high street. £29.99 would have been reasonable judging by how long it lasts though.

Big fan of FF series so thought of giving this a go. I must say that you really need a joypad to get the feel for it and have anisotropic filtering enabled via gpu control panel to get better textures in game. I like the setting of the game but combat is very convoluted for my taste. I am about an hour in to the game and have decided to leave it for now and may be come back to it some day.

That said, im however playing FF12 on the PC (ps2 emulator) and must say that how the hell did i not play this back when it came out is beyond me :D. an utter delight to play!

There are some parts of the landscape that do remind me quite a bit of FFXII, but the map when you enter a city does sort of break up the flow a tad. Still it makes getting from one part of the city to another much faster than FFXII, though I think it takes away some of the sense of exploration.

Had a quick blast on demo - slightly confusing as no manual or tutorial and I ended up jumping straight into a dungeon in the city. Was going fine until the boss fight then got completely wiped.
Looks interesting, but not sure I have time for another huge game (still have a dozen other games still to play properly).

Sorry to bump and old thread, but I need a bit of help with this game and am hoping theres someone here who can help. Is there any easy way to try and get a character to change class? My Rush has been healing a bit too much recently, and so has become the 'adept healer' class, the problem with this is that now if he is the leader of a union, that unions options are mostly about healing, and not combat. Also whenever i place a combat leader at the head of the union, Rush still doesn't do much other then a standard attack when told to use combat arts, even though i want him to (he has a good weapon and arts).
