There are much much worse things you could have said :)

If you mean it how can you not enjoy it? Why not, it's a perfectly natural thing to say, unless it's unatural the way you say it to your Gran. ;)

I accept the logic but I just feel uncomfortable expressing myself in that way.

Well if she ever asks for clarification just say "I love you like a Sister", you'll be fine - unless your from Norfolk. If you are from Norfolk just tell her your having a hard time since spliting with your Mum.

Of course. But I should have just said nothing and kept it under wraps. Nothing bad can happen when nothing is said or done.

We'll find out when I actually get a chance to talk to her.

Last time to a friend was about 20 minutes ago perhaps, more than a friend was when I was going out with my ex, but she said it all the time and I feel she never really meant it, but just wanted me to say it to make herself feel better. To me, it lost meaning after saying it that much, and often felt like I was just saying it because she wanted to hear it, although I did love her, I don't see the need to say it at the end of every sentence.

Nothing good can happen either :p

At least you know - to me, this has to be better than not saying anything and not knowing :)
