The Legend of Zelda - Tears of the Kingdom(use spoiler tags!)

Christ the fire temple is annoying.

The bit for the last padlock where you have to build a massive bridge out of tiny pieces of rock, and if it falls there's no way to recover it so you have to start again. I've never found any part of a Zelda game as close to being as annoying as this. Yes, you have a great new tool Nintendo, but I've spent ******* ages this morning sticking rock together and it's not fun
You can use rewind to 'pick it up' if you drop it, it works from much much further away than ultrahand.

Edit - hopefully this information doesn't just add to your frustration after spending so long doing that :p

Cheers! Still an absurdly annoying "puzzle" though. A puzzle should be tricky to work out but once you have you should be able to do it (which in general Zelda is great at). This is obvious what you need to do, but doing it is an uninteresting hassle

TOTK does seem to me to rely more on you remembering all of your abilities at any given time than BOTW did.

I didn't find that particular puzzle too bad because I immediately thought of the rewind function when I dropped it, so it didn't turn into a major hassle.

I've had a few times though where I've felt stuck and it's been a few minutes before I remember I can just warp up through a floor or something to move on when it's not an obvious 'part of the puzzle'.

Yeah, it's partly remembering, it's partly that the build mechanic is excellent and fun to use freely, but "put together a massive bridge made of little bits of rock" isn't fun or interesting even if you've only got to do it once.

Coincidentally, before TOTK came out I was playing Majora's Mask on the Switch, and it's such a tight game. There's no flab in there and it all works brilliantly. I'm not saying that TOTK is worse - it's a completely different game - but given how wide its scope is there will always be some things which don't work. In general, I'm more a fan of more compact games which do a couple of things brilliantly, versus the likes of TOTK , RDR2, GTA etc, but I know I'm in the minority there

Came back to it, sacked off the building and used one of the big springs. Should have thought of that earlier really

Wasted first hour looking for first lock. Resorted to a video and can't see how you would discover last lock. Probably worse level design in the whole series.

I think I’ve nearly got all of the depths showing on the map now but can anyone clarify something for me? Every time I see a little circle in the depths it’s usually an area with parts I can construct into a vehicle but every one of them now seems to have the same parts to build and wondered if it varies as it gives me the parts for a hot air balloon but no flame device to lift it? Sorry if it doesn’t make sense what I’m trying to say I’m just wondering if the parts are always the same in these areas.

Managed to clear all the depths and light up the whole map - currently at 110 hours and only done one of the regions main quests. Keep getting so distracted :)

Getting your money's worth there. I think my play time for the whole game was less than that. I started off playing like that but much like the first game I started questing more when I had a healthy number of hearts and realising that I'm not a completionist.

Yes it’s been really enjoyable just to wander round and figure things out myself. Once I have done all shrines I’ll crack on and finish all the quests but I’m so close to doing all of them now :)

I did just the same thing over the weekend. I got to the final boss but didnt have enough gloom food and got killed. So loaded a previous save and stuck a travel medallion down and went to do other things. I cleared all the depths over the weekend, that was a real pain in the bum lol.

I now need to farm up and stock up on food for the final battle before i finish that. I have been doing the Labyrinths, i have a question.. Do you have to defeat the construct in the depths labyrinth to get the reward or is it just in the area? Those level 3 constructs are no joke.

Still not been able to defeat a Gleeock or a Lynal tho.. :(

I would definitely look at upgrading armour as that has helped me massively. I have level 4 Fierce Diety armour and in one of the colosseums in the depths you have to fight a series of Lynals to get the treasure chest.

I picked this up at a reduced rate at launch and it's still in the cellophane! *bows head in shame*
I really need to find time to finish breath of the wild.
