A combination of weak story, an open world design that has been surpassed by other games and now feels a bit barren, plus performance issues limited by the Switch hardware. That's not to say I think its a bad game ... but it's not even in my top 3 Switch games, yet alone Zelda games.

Agreed on this.
No idea why people liked twilight, maybe it had too much wii rubbish but it wasn't for me.
I never tried skyward properly (the 1 hour I tried was bored so gave up) and have never touched wind waker as I didn't have a game cube.
I'd love a total remake of oot, the game was so good and really does deserve the respect of a full remake, more than any game I can think of.

Playing on the Switch at the moment and it stands up OK even without a lock of paint.
I need to check that out. Neglected my switch for a while now but playing through BOTW and really enjoying it. OoT blew me away all those years ago.
I think from what can be pieced together from the trailers, there are certainly two timelines on show and interaction between them, it'll be interesting to see if we can move between them like Ocarina

Any reason you didn't like OOT and newer Zelda games?
OOT is a great one, if the list went to 5 then it'd be number 4 and links awakening/link to the past would fight it out over the 5th spot no question. Just those three have that something special for me in the story they told and the different gameplay they bring to the series that make me rate them in the top 3.
Skyward Sword didn't get me in the first 2 hours (need to try for the 3rd time to do it I think) and I had a similar problem with botw, though that had. running commentary of why I was doing it wrong and what was coming up next!

OOT is one of the best ones. I'm not keen on these new ones. I can't quite put my finger on it why though.
