The M5 has a new friend...

Oh cool thanks - used a work email, so should be ok.

Nick when you register you should get an approval mail, if you don't you either entered a wrong address or you company has it in the Spam filter. If you dont confirm in 24 hours it gets deleted. I suggest try again with different email.

Ah so therefore you actually mean "because you havent been here long enough to be in the "hound all new members for fun" clique" ? Good.

This is a crap argument mate. If you are telling the truth then you wouldnt give a stuff if poeple call you out as you KNOW you can prove yourself honest in seconds. Thing is most poeple who make wild claims always seem to struggle at this hurdle and make it very protracted.....usunally because they are not being honest, which they then take issue with when people call them on it.

Been there, seen that, turned up at a meeting in my GT3.

No, you havent been here enough to see that he lives with another member, that he is regular at meets and has expressed his wanting of an M3 previously and has shown that he can be trusted.
nothing to do with groups or cliques or anything, its to do with common sense.

Thanks Housey - will try another address.

NickXX,

Like I said before it looks awesome. Pleased to see you got one in the end. So the question is, e36 or e46 when doing trackdays. :D

e36 still!! It does needs some suspension work doing though (coilovers) before I go on again - which has now been put back a few months. Would like to spend next winter on the track again though.

I need to see the beast again, last time I saw it you had just stripped it.

A 'main driver'? You mean a policyholder? That will earn you NCB, yes. Or do you mean a named driver - unless its your parents car this isn't really an option.

As far as i'm aware, under Admiral, the policyholder does not have to be the main driver. Either way I will be driving the car the most, if not exclusively so I will have to look at the most efficient way of doing it, it comes down to £2500 if the car is registered and policy held by my company and may do it down this route for other tax benefits but still need to discuss this with my accountant.

...with your accountant ...I love it :D ...I could use some staff myself, be a few more years yet though I think.

i dont see whats funny, i consulted my accountant before doing something similar, needed to check the tax situation etc

It's just the way he phrased it, made it sound like he had a personal accountant is all, I'm assuming he actualy meant his company accountant. Made me smile anyway :D

I still haven't forgotten the 10k desk episode years back :)

It is my personal accountant. I do a lot of my own accounts but have someone who I can consult regarding the more complex issues.

What is the 10k desk episode?

Yep exactly, there are a lot of different things involved which needs to be looked into, ie registered as a proper company car would require paying a certain amount of tax per year based on brand new value of the car etc. etc. it's very complex and wouldn't know where to begin!

Oh right ok, I don't have enough money in enough different places to need one myself, although I endeavour to change that. Good for you anyway.

I was thinking years back when someone made thread demonstrating this desk they were having designed and made, they mentioned several times that it cost £10k or so and that their parents were paying for it, of course you can imagine the kind of thread this triggered and so it went on. For some reason I thought it was you, since you don't know what I'm talking about I must be mistaken. I remember that happening though.

Actually it may have been someone with a similar name on [H]ard OCP forums, as $10k sounds more familiar when I think about it. Hmmm. Whatever the case the ensuing thread was quite funny, and the person who started it had absolutely no idea at all why, or didn't seem to.

My apologies anyway Gurdas, I got it wrong.

Well I just travel in and out of London every day for the hell of it to and from home . The arrows cunningly hide that :D near J14 of the M1 and there are some lovely roads around here.

Nice with the 335i, but it's still a modified 2nd best, M3 all the way .

NickXX has (in my eyes) the absolute perfect one. Quite jealous :D

Absolute perfect would be if it had a top that could come down but that's stretching it a bit :p

I make decent money but it's not about the amount, rather that i'm self-employed and have to file my own taxes etc. so having expert advice can help me with my own personal finances and the best way of doing things because accounting isn't my area of expertise! But thanks:)

You may be referring to my thread, it was a £2k desk not £10k (£10k was for 1 desk + 1 wardrobe + entire office fittings) but yeah it seemed to spark off weird reactions but don't know why, custom made furniture is expensive (ring Sharps for your own personal satisfaction if you are still sceptical). Let's not take this thread off topic though, if you still find it strange (after 6 years?) that not all desks are Ikea-priced and I made it up then that's a bit sad, I suggest you don't take a look at the B&O Concept catalogue as you may **** yourself with laughter:D

Mmm perhaps, my memory is sketchy on it at best, it was a long time ago. I guess it was indeed you after all then.

Actually now you say it was £2k for the desk I'm not that amazed, but my view of how much things cost, especially for high quality custom made things, has changed a lot since then.

As you say though, it's rather off topic here. I am sorry for bringing it up, actually I find it slightly embarrassing now you remind me of the facts involved.

I guess it shows how these things can get hyped out of proportion, I must have filed it in my memory banks as being wildly in excess of what it actually was, now we know how fantastical tails of sea monsters and dragons got passed down through the ages :p

Also, I think a lot of us who were here then, 6 years ago, have grown up a lot since then, graduated and started earning 'real' money, and have a much better idea of how much things cost now.
