You've yet to offer your opinion on anything aside from complaining.

Regardless, apparently The Mirror jumped the gun and he lives in the UK anyway and is just doing some light consulting where appropriate.

My opinion is that it sounds like cronyism.

There's talk if players being too old etc yet people doing cartwheels about hauling a 75 year old coach back in.

How about assembling a team of the best modern cosches around?

Surely half the point of going to someone like Rangnick is that he has an extensive network of trusted contacts to utilise in the interim without needing to worry about scouring the globe to assemble a world beating new off-field team in a rush.

Retired coaches who were relevant 30 years ago and are now 75.

Cool

EDIT: Can't be bothered. The below is spot on though:

The man who trained me up as a butcher still worked as a butcher till he was 86 when he sadly passed. He had numerous awards in the meat industry, trained hundreds of people in the trade around the UK and knew more about meat than anyone would ever know. Don't ask me for his name to prove it as it was 30 years ago I worked with him and I have been a sleep since. My memory is crap when it comes to names.

But yeah. He was top of his game clearly, no doubt couldn't do the lifting at that age but the cutting and knowledge he used.

Shame he passed.

I'd hire him to be the main man at one of the biggest clubs in the world any day.

But he’s not a coach, more someone who organises academies and club structure.

There are countless examples of people in their 70’s being top of their field.

Also, how many managers come in and hire a load of staff they don’t know? Virtually none.

We’re also in the middle of a season operating on short notice, many people are under contract, as Ralf himself said.

So as usual, you are just being spectacularly negative.

Name some 75 year olds who are top of their game in a sporting capacity.

Easy example - Sir Alex wasn’t doing too badly at 71. He’s not here in a sporting capacity, or perhaps any capacity at all, currently not clear.

Anyway, I'm not going to waste my time with you, others can feel free to jump in if they are bored :o

You still haven’t said who you’d want as our manager, and probably won’t. Much easier to just complain than offer any views.

So that's not 75. And that's the age he retired from his role, not the time he was given the job.

So you basically have no examples?

There are lots of examples. One relevant to this case is Dietrich Mateschitz, or Helmut Marko? 77/78 respectively. Running large successful global sports companies, of which Rangnick & co have been involved.

Want to answer my manager question now?

Oh come on this is ridiculous and you're also avoiding any questions back at you.

If anything it can be very easily argued that the below roles are trickier than football. And the below are 'full time' compared to Man Utd's recent appointment of light consultancy on their structure. The bloke is not going to be kicking a football around is he.

The below are the result of a 5 second google and drop in to make a point.

As said above by Robbo, its perfectly fine and normal.

Maybe he would have struggled physically to carry on butchering but he certainly could train and teach people the art of butchery. Pretty much inline with hiring someone who is great in the field they have been hired for.

Indeed my grand father was working till he was 78. Retired in 1991 when the soviet union fell. He specialised in the hardware side of computers and was doing stuff for the Russians. He would have worked longer if he didn't get made redundant. I guess when you love your job it isn't really a job anymore but a hobby that you get paid for!

Yeah, my dad is like that. Turned 75 last month and is still doing consulting work for the like of JLR and Wheetabix and being flown out to Asia for conferences (at least when that was an option!)
