Maybe - we've not heard much. We were without 3 first team players last match due to Covid, so I suppose it depends on who's been vaccinated.

My understanding was that if a team had 13 available players (those with at least 1 senior league appearance) then the game had to go ahead.

Tbh it's better for me that this gets played another date as I was really 50:50 about going. That said, United were seemingly outplayed by Norwich last week, so it would have been a good time to have played them at home.
I think it’s probably more about trying to keep the general spread down now, rather than the team per se as it’s the highest it’s been for the PL infection rate-wise since testing began.

Expect there’ll be a few more in the coming days. Can’t see the Brighton game on Saturday going ahead either.

Watched all of Arsenal vs WHam last night. As rivals for the 4th Champions League spot it was an interesting watch. Both teams looked at a similar level to United of the last 12 months. Ie not that great. Both well organised and Arsenal in particular pressed well in the first half. However there was not a lot of quality on display. It was very similar to watching United trying to break down the low block of teams as WHam sat back and soaked it up. I was particularly interested in watching Rice to see how he shaped up for a supposed £80-90m CDM. He's not that much of an upgrade on McFred. Better first touch, a bit more comfortable on the ball and positionally astute but I really didn't see what all the fuss was about. He's certainly no Keano or even a Carrick.

Pleased about that. I know he's well regarded but he's been here for a long time (under numerous bad spells) and I'd prefer more changes in the coaching department.

Excellent. Kieran McKenna is off to Ipswich Town as manager. Least that’s more of the dross gone.

You realise Rangnick has been incredibly complimentary about Mckenna?

Coaches leaving midseason is never a good thing, we're going to really struggle to bring staff in to replace them for an interim manager.

Because he's going to throw him under the bus in public, or say anything different, being new to role? I've read the comments you're referring to. They don't amount to much.
All I want is the old staff gone, and new staff brought in, staff that aren't Carrick or McKenna. They were the ones in the training sessions after all.

He has been ok so far with his staff that's he's grabbed. Again, I've heard the same comments regarding brexit etc. We'll be fine, if not better, I hope, as it brings about more 'out with the old, in with the new' feeling about the place for the players, who have supposedly been quite derisive about McKenna anyway.

I expect the writing was always on the wall for him, but he was being held back to onboard Rangnick and his team, it's no coincidence him leaving at the first opportunity that one comes up after Ole and Carrick.

Considering the discussions there have been here about the coaching/backroom staff and how good/bad they are. What do you think makes a coach a good coach?
One that doesn't make us play the way we've played for the last few years, and drills into the players structure and tactics. Something we've been missing for a long, long time.

Yes? Did you read what he said about Phelan?

As I said, bringing in new is fine, but losing old and not being able to replace them is not fine. We've managed to get a few unemployed people but you're never going to convince staff to give up permanent roles for a 6 month temp job. Rangnick has mentioned several times how hard he's found it trying to get staff in.

Also he's hardly jumping ship at the first opportunity, he's being offered a manager role it's a great opportunity for him.

Bit different to trash someone at the start of their career than to dismiss a guy who came out of retirement to help stabilize the club after Mourinho

Numerous reports in the media that half the squad want to leave, the players dislike each other and the manager, the atmosphere couldn't be worse, and everything is going pear shaped.

Shambles.

It's a tricky one. It does feel like the squad needs a big clear out and then get players in to fit a style/mentality, but then on the other hand i'm not really sure who would buy half of our players!

Probably because they now have to work. :p

Did you see the photo of Phil Jones jumping really high/preparing and everyone else had their heads bowed/looking low? Body language etc.

Yeah, they look down in the dumps which is pathetic after a month with the new manager. The pride and work ethic from these players just boggles the mind. It makes so much sense why Ole had such a positive impact when he took over from Mourinho now. These players have the mental fortitude of a fainting goat. Instead of getting their heads down and working they just down tools and mope.
