It is away to Newcastle at St James' park. It was never going to be easy and despite their injuries they still got that spine which we haven't at the moment . If it wasn't for Maguire getting in the way it would have been a 1-1 draw.
Luke Shaw was playing left centre back and Dalot as left back. It was never going to be pretty.
Listening to the press makes it sound a lot worse than it really is.
Yes there are a huge magnitude of problems at the club but getting rid of ETH would be the worst thing to do.
Getting rid of problem players despite the financial implications is a must or the club will never move forward on the pitch.
It doesn't matter what the press say - watch the games. Also remember that in terms of our league position, most of our recent games have been against weaker opponents. Any game against a side in the top half is almost certainly going to end in defeat - that is ETH's record, and it's a disturbing one.
Ignore the opposition, the performances are poor in pretty much every game. We would have no doubt struggled against Everton if it wasn't for a wondergoal to put them on the back foot.
I am not blaming ETH alone or asking for him to go - it won't make any difference at the moment. All I would say is that if you put absolutely everything else to one side, ETH is a relatively untested manager (compared to someone like Klopp). His signings haven't been great and he has not been able to improve the squad, either in style of play or quality. There is still a huge question mark over him.
Gary Neville summed it up quite well on his podcast, the club is just horrible to watch, and that isn't because of a few injuries - they are not a factor right now.
