The Manchester United Club Thread **Sponsored by Comedy Central**

If you are doing a job that has already reached its ceiling I can understand. You have nothing to learn from other people. You get given a job and you finish it. Working from home has its many advantages but I do not envisage the office of Manchester United being like that. I imagine it a place where coming together and "banging heads" is far more beneficial. This isn't a workplace where you go from A to B. All day every day.

I think most would agree your views on WFH are misinformed, but anyway…

Man Utd is a large company like any other. The football side is one element, the rest will be normal business type stuff you’d find anywhere.

What evidence?

There is nothing categorically that points either way. You can post "evidence" that proves your point and I can post "evidence" that proves otherwise. Just because "you" say it is incorrect doesn't really make it so does it.

Are you really asking people for evidence after posting this...

Look at animals like dogs for example. I know this may sound like a weird analogy but hear me out. When you work together as a group you learn faster and quicker because you bounce ideas and solutions off each other. Dogs who are brought up in packs learn to potty train and use skills that would normally take longer being single. Working from home is basically the same.

Coming back to the Man Utd element, Ratcliffe is likely doing this to try and reduce staff numbers in general. I imagine a significant number of employees may have changed living arrangements based around WFH, so can't just pop back into the office - offices which are not currently fit for purpose due to a lack of capacity, by the way.

It was reported a few months ago that they were looking at massively cutting back the amount of staff the club have, this is just part of that.

Most were hoping for a nice big payday:D the guy seems like a bafoon that can’t send an email correctly!!

I think Ratcliffe has played it smart, he knew Newcastle were in a financial bind and appears to have exploited that.

That said, nobody has reported a compensation figure. I can’t remember what was offered initially but they’ve probably met somewhere in the middle.

It’s good that he’s starting immediately too. Let’s see if he lives up to his reputation!

New kit looks great, Snapdragon is a decent sponsor and logo, makes a change.

Official.

The arbitration was between Ashworth and NUFC and nothing to do with manu, the fact that brexit Jim hasn’t released a statement claiming victory, suggests to me it was quite a bit more than the £2m offered

We really don't know, the terms are supposed to be remaining confidential, so you can dream that it's £20m and we'll think it's £2m.

Anyway, he's in place pretty much as planned for July. A good result.

Good to see the new footballing structure is in place. Hopefully this will transform the club, they've certainly been radical.

  • Owners: Jim Ratcliffe & The Glazers

  • Directors: Dave Brailsford & Jean-Claude Blanc

  • CEO: Omar Berrada

  • Sporting Director: Dan Ashworth

  • Technical Director: Jason Wilcox

  • Head of Recruitment: Christopher Vivell (temporary for the next 2 windows)

And we also have two new assistants/coaches for Ten Hag, Rene Hake and Van Nistelrooy.

Redundancies also being made now, a shame for those losing their jobs.

Manchester United today told staff that the club is intending to cut 250 jobs as new co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe continues his bid to slash costs at Old Trafford.

Interim chief executive Jean-Claude Blanc informed staff on Wednesday lunchtime that the club intends to make a wave of redundancies, with new co-owner INEOS pursuing a series of cost-cutting measures recommended by consultancy firm Interpath Advisory, who have been hired to review the club’s business and operational outgoings.

New contract for ETH, notably only until June 2026, so not a long extension. Rightly so.

Good to see Ashworth commenting publicly too.

Dan Ashworth, Manchester United sporting director, said: “With two trophies in the past two seasons, Erik has reinforced his record as one of the most consistently successful coaches in European football.

"While the club’s review of last season highlighted areas for improvement, it also reached a clear conclusion that Erik was the best partner for us to work with in driving up standards and outcomes.

"This group of players and staff have already shown they are capable of competing and winning at the top level; now we need to do it more consistently.

"With our strengthened football leadership team now in place, we are looking forward to working hand-in-hand with Erik to achieve our shared ambitions for this football club.”

Ok well late to the party I didn't notice there was a sport section in ocuk. Only been here for like 20+ years.

Ten Hag get his contract extended 2026. What the consensus with Man U fans??

Rather than go over it all again, bit of light reading for you :p

The long and short of it is, I think he should have been sacked, but I am optimistic under the new footballing structure and happy to give him another shot. Things will need to improve seriously rapidly though.

Sancho back. Not sure he won't leave in the end but:

During the conversations, the pair reflected on past issues, and both agreed to draw a line and move on.

It appears the club are focused on building a new stadium, 100k seater. Not decided yet though.

I feel pretty optimistic too. ETH has been backed and there are no excuses now. Another season of injury woe simply won't wash and he'll be out the door if performances are consistently poor. I think the optimism is mainly down to the fact we have a CEO and directors who know football, and are desperate to succeed.

Also, it does appear we've assembled a pretty strong squad with a number of exciting players. Bruno is among the very best, Mainoo and Garnacho look superstars already, and Amad/Hojlund show promise. I'm hoping Zirkzee will make a good start too. There are plenty of options in defence now, even if we do have a few injuries.
